"Come on, Em. Do you think that someone like me could afford this? I'm just a struggling kid without parents. I'm working hard to support myself. Please don't judge me," Mason said pitifully. "I swear, I didn't sell my body to the Director or something."
"Wha—I—I never think that way!" I denied quickly. I was suspicious of him, of course. But I had never suspected him of selling his body to the Director or anybody else for a favor.
"Well, the way you react, I just thought that you might see me as a boy toy for those rich people…" Mason said. He looked hurt, and I felt guilty.
I was just suspicious that he came from some sort of secret mafia family. That was why he could afford these luxurious things in private.
But that idea might be too far-fetched. I felt guilty for accusing Mason like this.
"I didn't see you as a boy toy, Mason. I was just surprised that people can be so kind to lend such expensive things to you," I replied.
