FILE 21: THE DAEVA PART 5

It was now an hour later and I had transformed back to my human form which had healed completely.

I'm definitely becoming more powerful! Blair was being taken care of by Isobel and one of the workers from the ranch while Mars and I discussed the case with Lucan.

"Callen has returned to normal and is asleep now. Thank you Nathan. You won't believe how relieved I am right now," Lucan informed me shakily.

I patted his cold hands. He had a big fright, that's for sure. "Did the kid say anything before he fell asleep?" I asked curiously.

"Only that he was sorry. If you're wondering whether he mentioned the demon, I'm afraid he doesn't remember."

What a bummer. I smiled forcefully, "That's okay. He's just a kid, so I won't bother him. Now, about my payment…"

A pair of Fae guards waited stealthily beyond the portal on the Scottish border. Due to the possibility of the hellcniht returning, Mars and his human companion were placed under their protection. Until the King orders otherwise.

They were trained since they were young, and had been the royal personal guards for over two centuries. Both were incredibly strong when it came to battle.

"If I didn't just witness it with my own eyes, that human boy just performed Feile Maor," the tall, red-haired guard murmured.

"He was taught by Prince Ailbhe, so wouldn't that be natural?" the smaller guard replied admirably. The first guard, Bac, glanced at his companion doubtfully.

"No matter how talented a human may be, unless they have that bloodline, they cannot perform Feile Maor."

"Then, do you suppose—"

"Shush, Don't say it, it's against the world's law to even think about it."

The second guard, a small and stocky male Fae named Erskine, was shocked. "I hope nothing bad happens to them."

"That's why we're here. Now let's continue observing them." He froze. The air around them pulsated. Bac's face hardened.

"Erskine, prepare yourself. Something is coming through," he warned. Both peered alert at the newly formed red portal.

It shimmered, then a giant black shape trotted through. It was a giant elegant horse, with sharp teeth and a cold scarlet stare.

"Damn, it's a selkie! The Veil is getting weaker," Erskine breathed in dismay. Bac moved in front of the malicious horse.

"I'll fight it off while you go inform the king. No arguing." Erskine nodded and rushed into their own gateway. A sigh escaped Bac's lips as he turned his attention back to the selkie.

He stared grimly at the snorting horse as he shapeshifted to the Feile Maor, or FULL FORM as Mars called it. The selkie neighed in defiance as Bac stood before it in his giant red and gold tiger form.

As he stretched his golden wings, he shot like a bullet towards the awaiting Selkie.
