CHAPTER 21 Christmas Day 4

　　After eating our dinner, which was a delicious array of turkey, potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cranberry sauce and all the trimmings, my hangover and mood was certainly starting to feel uplifted. A glass of wine was taking the edge of as well – there was nothing like ‘hair of the dog’.

　　When the plates were cleared away, as dessert was being served up to us and we were about to eat our next course, Tess stood up abruptly from her seat, and it made me jump.

　　“Everyone, before we have our dessert, me and Elijah have an announcement,” she beamed, dragging Elijah up from his seat by his arm.

　　Everyone stopped in their tracks, as her and Elijah cosied up to each other and prepared to tell us their news.

　　“We’re engaged!” Tess cried, holding up her hand to reveal a sparkling diamond on her finger.
