CHAPTER 20 Christmas Day 3

I wish I hadn’t bought such expensive gifts for my mum and dad. They didn’t deserve them after that, and I should have bought them something naff from the pound shop. How I missed my own space and privacy in my own home, away from the jibes about being single. At least if I would’ve had Christmas at home, if anyone would’ve asked me what presents I got, I could’ve lied.

I’d done that on several occasions. Thinking back, I recalled the year that my mum and dad had bought me make-up set and a bronzing set, because I’d mentioned that I was seeing someone. Some may have viewed that as being innocent, but I knew that they were hinting at me to ‘fix’ my appearance for my new man. Needless to say, I ended up not using the make up kit for long, as it made me come out in a rash, and the bronzer went on in a streaky orange colour, with a lovely back canvas of my ivory complexion peeping through. No wonder my relationship didn’t last.
