Chosen For You

I'm Kade and I'm turning seventeen soon. On my birthday I get to take a personality test that determines whether I'll become a vampire, werewolf, or stay human. After that I get to meet other people which I've never done. I'm not sure why they keep us separated. I don't have a mother or a father. I know how a child is made though. Where are my parents? What happened? I don't know how I'm here. I wonder what it's like outside of all the white walls? I wonder why they keep us separated? I wonder who I truly am?

Chapter 7

Kade's Pov:

The men finally leave the room with the old wolf. They didn't notice me. What a relief. Not even 30 seconds later Jax runs into the commons. "Kade, did you see that?!" He's extremely distressed. You can see his ears twitching. "Yeah, I did. I'm glad they didn't notice me." He sits down next to me. "That was a high-ranking wolf, what are they doing with him?" I grab his hand. "People are being taken, Jax. Emma is missing. And not just her a bunch of vampires and werewolves have disappeared already." Jaxson's face grew dark after he heard this. "What are we gonna do?" He asks with fear building in his eyes. "I don't know Jax."

He stands up and beings to pace. "Shit, shit, shit..." He begins to whisper under his breath. He runs his hand through his hair. "I was gonna ask Amy because she's wanted to help us before." Jax doesn't stop pacing. I stand up and grab him and start to walk back to our room, "We are gonna ask Amy, she has helped us in the past. I'm sure she will again." I hear a sigh of relief from Jax as we walk into the room. Amy is sitting on the couch doing something on her tablet.

I stand by the couch with Jax's hand still intertwined with mine. "Amy, why are people disappearing?" She immediately sat up as straight as she could and shot a surprised look at me. "What?" I cross my arms and feel the warmth from Jax's hand leave my own. "Emma is gone. I just watched a wolf get dragged out of the commons. Don't act like you know nothing." She sighs. "Why do you boys have to be so intelligent?" She gives a slight smile. "To be honest, I don't know what's happening. None of the caretakers have been told anything except to be quiet when someone is taken. Crap, I've said too much." She gets up and quickly goes into her room.

"That was strange," Jax says as he walks over to the couch. He plops down on the couch. His tail hangs and slowly sways as he lies there. His dirty blonde hair slightly drapes over his eyes. His beautiful grey eyes burn holes into me as I stand and stare. "Is something on my face?" He wipes his face with his hand. I walk over while saying, "No, you're just so handsome." I watch as his cheek turns a light shade of pink. I lift his legs and sit then lay them over my lap. "Oh. . . thanks." I see him try to hide a big smile, but his tail wagging gives away that he's happy.

"Why can't we always be this happy?" I lean back and stare at the ceiling deep in thought. I hear his wagging tail slow down to a stop. "I don't know," Jax says in a low voice. I look at him. He sits up and looks me straight in the eyes. I see a fire in his light grey eyes. "Kade, let's make a pact to always look for the light in the dark, to try to make each other happy, to be there for one another no matter what." The fire turns into affection after I kiss him on his nose. "That sounds perfect," I say with a smile.

"Argh!" It feels like a fire was lit inside my throat. I hunch over as the fire travels into my stomach. "Kade! What's happening?!" Jax asks frantically as he crouches in front of me. I enter into a coughing fit. I put my hand up in front of my mouth. "Kade?" Jaxson is panicking as I cough. The fit finally stops. I pull my hand away from my mouth and see a deep red substance lingering on my hand. I feel the blood leave my face. Jax grabs my hand to see what had made me go pale. The shock is visible on his face.

The fire is gone but the shock is still here. Jax drags me to the sink and washes all the blood off of my hand. He then pulls me into a hug. "Are you ok?" He pulls away from the hug and looks me in the eyes. "I'm ok. I don't know why that happened. Maybe I'm hungry." I walk to the fridge and take out a bag of blood. I glance at Jax; his ears are down and he's looking at me with a concerned face. I pour the blood into a cup and go and stand by him. I lean on him as I drink the blood.

"I'm alright Jax. No need to worry. We have bigger and more important things to worry about. We will figure this coughing thing out later. We shouldn't tell Amy either. She might send me away and we can't have that." Jax wraps his arm around my shoulder and kisses the top of my head. "If that's what you think is best, but you can't make me not worry about you ever."
