Chosen For You

I'm Kade and I'm turning seventeen soon. On my birthday I get to take a personality test that determines whether I'll become a vampire, werewolf, or stay human. After that I get to meet other people which I've never done. I'm not sure why they keep us separated. I don't have a mother or a father. I know how a child is made though. Where are my parents? What happened? I don't know how I'm here. I wonder what it's like outside of all the white walls? I wonder why they keep us separated? I wonder who I truly am?

Chapter 11

Jax's Pov:

Jason stares at me still smiling. "I want to know where Kade is." His smile fades as the words leave my lips. He lowers his voice as he speaks, "Kade is in one of the 4 experimental facilities. I'm not sure which one." Experimental? What? What are they doing to him? "Experimental?" He looks at me confused. "You don't know?" I'm getting upset. Am I unaware of something?

Jason sighs, "This place is not to help us. No one knows what this place is, but only a few people know we aren't completely safe." What? I thought. I don't know what I thought. What is this? "Is Kade alive?" My voice hitches as I ask this question. "I-I'm not sure. Sorry." Jason says in a calm, comforting voice. Kade might not be alive. He could be dead?

"I don't know 100%. He could be alive too. I just don't know." Jason says with a panicky voice. Vivian walks up after he says that. "Oh, Jax." She kneels next to the couch and wipes my face. I didn't even know I was crying. "Kade is strong. I know that for a fact." Vivian says to try and comfort me.

"Can we not? Please?" I say. "Let's make a plan instead." Jason nods his head, "Well first we need to know what facility he's being contained in."

"How do we do that?" I ask. "We check each one," Vivian says while sighing. She rubs her head. Jason speaks up, "Jaxson, do you remember what the guards looked like? Specifically their badges." I think back to when I tried to protect Kade. The guards the guards. I sigh, "I don't remember anything."

We sit there in silence for a few minutes devastated. We have nothing. Absolutely nothing for finding Kade or Emma. They could be in the same facility or different ones. "I hate this," I whisper to myself. "I get how you feel." I look at Vivian and tears leave her face. "It's like our guts are rotting from the loneliness and loss of our loved ones. You know how that feels don't you?" "Yeah, I feel the same way."

Jason stands up and faces us. "I'm going to make a plan of action for us. But for now, don't cause trouble and avoid being taken." I nod and he leaves us in cold silence. A painful silence. Vivian moves to sit next to me on the couch. "I just want my girl back." She's looking down and playing with her nails. "We'll find her. I know it." She looks at me and I give her a warm smile.

A week goes by. A whole week. Another week without Kade. Another week where he could get hurt. Maybe even killed. Stop it. I can't think like that. He'll be ok.

A knock on the door interrupts my lunch. Amy isn't here. She has "something" to do. I go to the door and it slides open. It's Jason and Vivian. "Any news?" I ask as they enter the room. "Yeah, it's pretty interesting too." Jason walks to the couch and sits. Vivian sits next to him. "We know what facility Emma and Kade are in," Jason says with a large grin. "You do?!" I ask. They know where he is. I might get to see him soon.

"Yes," Vivian says while smiling, "They are in facility number 3." I sit in the chair across from them. "What do we do to get to them?" Jason leans back sighing. "Well, we have to steal a key card. Then get access to a map of the place. Finally, we sneak out and go find them. Make sure they're alright. After that I'm unsure. Maybe a full-scale escape. I don't know though."

"That sounds like a good start. I can probably get a card from Amy. She takes naps on the couch quite often. I can take the card then." They both nod. "Do you think you can get it today?" Jason asks. "I believe so. But what would be the point? We don't have a map." "Ah, right." Vivian's face lights up. "Jax, could you follow Kade's scent? Even if it's faded."

"I probably could. Why do you ask?" "Well," she says, "we wouldn't need a map, you could just follow Kade's sent to the facility he's in." Hm. That seems like a good plan. I'll get to see him. I smile to myself. "Let's do that. You should go to the commons. Amy did extra work today so She'll probably be tired when she returns."

Vivian and Jason say goodbye and leave my room. I go into my room to wait for Amy to come back. I hear the front door slide open. Finally, she's returned.
