Chimera Man

Humans and Predators are no different from one another. They kill, they hunt, they prey. Humans have always been the natural predators, slaughtering and domesticating animals to their will. What happens when the animals retaliate? An unknown strand of genetically modified DNA causes animals to expand and enlarge into terrifying horrible creatures that turn Humans, the apex predator, into the prey. Their strengths, a scientific wonder, are correlated to the fear of humanity. The more feared an animal, the stronger it becomes. What happens when a man becomes too feared?

Chimera

"Agh!" A man cries in pain as he hides beneath a bridge, next to a road. A long cut on his arm stretched the entire length of his arm. Beads of sweat roll down the sides of his face as he rips off his shirt to tie around his arm. Dressed in a suit and tie, he's clearly in distress.

He grits his teeth as he plunges his hand deep into his wound, slowly ripping out a scattered piece of cement. He closes his eyes and looks upward, unable to bear to see his wound.

He looks up and slowly opens his eyes, mere seconds away from passing out due to the pain, as two giant black eyes stare back. A creature is hanging over the edge of the bridge he's underneath, looking at the man. "AH!" He screams in pure horror as the creature jumps down, causing a piece of the bridge to come down with it.

As the entire bridge stabilizes, a beast reveals itself. A creature resembling an owl that had been severely mutated appears. It had hundreds of eyes that covered its feathery head, and two ginormous wings that covered the entire span of the entrance of the bridge. It had pieces of its ribcage protruding through its sides, like spikes.

"A chimera!" The man cries out hopelessly, hoping that his cries won't fall on deaf ears. "There's a chimera!" The owl chimera coos and flaps its wings, generating a gust of wind that picks up small leaves and litter from the ground.

In the distance, the sounds of wires screeching and a blaring honk make itself apparent. The man turns his attention to where the sound is coming from.

A car was heading straight towards the owl standing underneath the bridge, accelerating even faster when he saw the owl. In the driver's seat was a young man with blueish-black hair parted in the middle. His skin was unusually pale, like snow. He had scars covering his arms and neck, a rather larger gash on his upper lip, up to his nose.

"Let's go, baby!" He screams in excitement as he applies his whole body weight to the acceleration, speeding up towards the owl. His bright lights scare the owl, flapping its wings even faster. The car accelerates and jumps off a piece of the broken cement, nearly tilting a whole ninety degrees before flying upwards and colliding with the owl head-on. The creature screams in agony as the car causes the owl's neck to rotate three entire times.

'BOOM!' The car rips off a piece of the owl and collides straight into the back wall, exploding with a large cloud of fire. A card flies out from the driver's seat window and lands on the lap of the man.

The owl stumbles back and forth on its giant chicken legs, slowly readjusting to the flying car that just blew a part of its face off.

'Gen Arima' His card read. 'C2 Licensed Poacher'.

As he read the card, a tire flew across the length of the underpass, narrowly avoiding the man. He sighs in defeat as he accepts his fate. "They sent a C2 Poacher." He puts on a defeated face as he slowly starts crying. "A fucking C2 Poacher!" He throws a tantrum as he throws his card with his good arm across the width of the underpass, throwing it into the lake. "I'm dead! I'm dead! I'm going to die!" He cups his head with his other hand.

"Bro." A voice speaks to him. "I kind of need that." A burning humanoid stands above him. "I don't wanna get scolded again you know." The humanoid was on fire and had a missing arm, his other arm on his waist. He had a fully melted head as a visible part of his upper left skull had been shattered.

"Is that you?" The man looks up, in complete acceptance.

"You know me?" The humanoid, even without eyebrows, raised an eyebrow in question.

"The Grim Reaper." The man sighs in relief as he lays his head back. "I wonder if I'm going to hell or heaven."

"Bro I am not the Grim Reaper." He says.

As the man reopens his eyes, a partially completed man reappears in his sight. He looked like those anatomically accurate statues you have during biology lessons. Except, real. And on fire.

"I'm Arima Gen, a licensed poa-" Before he could finish his words, a flash of feathers flew past the man's face and completely sliced Arima in half, leaving his burning bottom half intact.

"Is this what they mean when you start hallucinating during your final moments?" The man starts praying with one hand.

"It's rude to interrupt someone you know!" Arima crawls out from the bushes from where he was knocked into. He crawls his arms as his head slowly regenerates and the fire calms down. Right before his eyes, Arima slowly stands up and the flesh on his arms close up, his bones regenerating and his internal organs growing back. Even the clothes he wore had slowly grown back. In his hands was a small pistol.

The owl turns its attention towards Arima, fascinated by his immortal likeness. Its head twists three hundred and sixty degrees, keeping its eyes on Arima. The owl slowly approaches Arima, mere inches away from his face. "Do chimeras brush their teeth?" Arima sniffs and instantly gags.

The owl tries to flap its wings and catch Arima, however, Arima ducks underneath and slides below the creature's belly. With a single gunshot, he aims the barrel of the pistol perpendicular to its head, aiming at its chin straight to the Chimera's brain. 'Bang!' He shot as the owl flaps its wings even harder in retaliation, banging the top of its head above the partially destroyed bridge.

The force and speed of the impact cause the bridge to fully collapse on the owl, causing cement shards to imbed itself into the owl. "Agh!" Arima cries in pain as he's crushed underneath the rubble with the owl.

As this was happening, the local police force had caught wind of the situation and had cornered off and evacuated the surrounding buildings. An entire fleet of police cars surrounded both ends of the underpass.

"Fire!" A policeman shouts as both sides of the underpass shoot bullets towards the owl. The man had slowly crawled away, back into safety as his wounds were being treated.

The owl, agitated at the loud sounds and piercing pain of the bullets, awakes from the rubble, Arima in hand. Arima had been knocked out from the crushing weight, his arms and legs twisted and destroyed.

The owl throws Arima into the air, opening up its ginormous mouth as he falls straight into the Chimera, swallowing it whole like a worm.

The policemen continue shooting at the owl like a wild beast, their bullets being lost in the thick feather of the owl.

The owl jitters around as his entire body seemingly seizes up, his muscles and feathers twitching before he flaps with all four of his wings, creating an upward force that pushes the nocturnal beast upwards, straight into the sky.

"It's getting away!" The policemen continue shooting, however their bullets prove futile as the owl merely shakes off their bullets.

As the owl makes its escape, it acts weirdly as it slowly loses control of its flight, pushing back and forth against itself.

All of a sudden, the owl's belly erupts like a firework of blood and guts as a humanoid shape bursts out of the bird. "AHHHHH!" Arima screams through the sky as he emerges from the owl's belly, a hardened steel pipe in his hand and his entire body covered in blood and digestive juices.

'Bang!' His body, along with the carcass of the owl, smashes into the other side of the bridge, across the lake. With both sides of the bridge destroyed, the entire bridge, spanning over the small lake, completely collapses and turns into a pile of rubble.
