CLEO'S P.O.V

"I can't believe you missed a throw from that kid" I muse with an amused smile. When I arrived at Eva's place to borrow a book from her, she was out playing catch with her kid brother and that's when I witnessed her epic fall. She missed the ball and instead landed on her a*s. Ouch. Talk about humiliation.

"That kid plays on the basketball team. So sue me for not being able to catch a throw from a professional" Eva huffs out sarcastically and I grin. So sarcasm does exist in her world. Although I don't really agree with her. The kid plays nice but he is hardly a professional but I am sure even if I do point that out it's only going to be ignored. She grabs the books sitting on her bed before sorting out the one I wanted.

"Is it this one? I don't really remember which one it is out of these..." Eva mumbles to herself as she flips the pages of the books scattered on her bedroom floor. I take that time to admire her well kept and clean room. It smelled like fresh lilies and sweet candies. Is that even possible? Maybe I am just hungry for candies.

"I finalised it down to three books. Find the one you want" she gestures to the three long notebooks in front of her. I nod as I pick them each to look for the one I needed. Ugh I hate homework. How does this hoe manage to drain me physically and mentally?

"Have you messaged him anything yet?" Eva leans forward and looks at me expectantly for a positive reply.

I roll my eyes. There she goes again. "Eva, we have been over this for three times already! Why can't you understand that messaging Winston first just smells f*cking desperate?"

She pokes her tongue out. "Chillax bruh. I am just worried that after all this planning and everything we did-You did, it'll all just go in vain. What if Kade doesn't message?". She wrings her hands as her brows crease in a chary manner, the apprehensive tone giving away her fear. She must be really desperate if this had her so worried. I even envy Eva's cousin a bit. Having someone go so far for you.

"He will message. That's for sure. Just trust me okay? I got this. So just chillax bruh" I offer her a comforting grin throwing back her own words at her. The corner of her mouth twitches in a slow smile.

"Why is that I am only seeing you now? Shouldn't you have been back home about two hours ago?" Mom leans against the kitchen island, a brow raised in question and her arms crossed across her chest.

"I may or may not have been at my boyfriend's place" I tease with a wink and my mom rolls her eyes but decides to humour me.

"I think I am going to have to speak to that boyfriend of yours. I won't have him keep my daughter for that long" I chuckle at her before giving her a thumbs up.

"Are you going somewhere?" I ask when my eyes fall upon her crisp beige blouse and a pair of neat black pants to go with.

"Another meeting. It's a 45 minutes drive. Do you think I should let them know how much I hate driving?" She scrunched her nose and looked over at me for a reply.

"Or you could ditch them" I smirk at her and she laughs.

"Okay. Thanks for reminding how much of a bad adviser you are" she shakes her head in amusement before picking up the car keys from the holder. She kisses my forehead and breezes past me not before rushing out a quick goodbye.

How I wish I could do something for her. Something for both my parents.

Just then my phone pings with a message and I grab it from the kitchen counter.

Hi! Do I know you?

I had a sh*t eating grin on my face right now. Finally Mr. Winston shows up for his role. I think over my reply a bit before typing it out.

Fiona_Cross

You accepted my follow request though.

I pointed out with sass.

Cute. But you sent the request ;) -K

Okay I'll let you have this one. Gloat -F

Haha no need. I won't gloat. At least not in your face xD but really how do you know me -K

I don't. -F

Stalker alert? -K

Ha! As if. What I meant was that it's actually my friends who know you -F

Do your friends go to the same school as me? -K

Yopes. You got that right -F

Popularity is a blessing as well a curse. It's really taking it's toll on me now (kidding) -K

Awww you poor little thing. Cry me a river (rolling my eyes) -F

Ouch. I think my heart's bleeding. Could it be because of your vicious insult? (Pouting adorably) -K

I hope so (smiling evily) -F

Evilness is not a good colour on you Cross -K

Oh yeah? Then what is? -F

Fiery. Definitely fiery. That will be the best colour on you -K

You don't know me, Winston -F

And I am hoping to change that -K

My thumbs hovered over the screen, his message blinking back at me through the bright screen. What should I reply to that now?

Whatever. I'll think of a reply later. Right now this stomach needs some ammo.

But Winston's words keep repeating themselves on an endless loop in my head. Working as a constant reminder.

Never. I forcefully push our conversation out of my mind and busy myself with trying to find something in the fridge.

Kade Winston may know his game but he is forgetting that there are no rules that we have to play by. And when there are no rules, there are no bounds to how things can get quickly out of hands and it's not always in a good way. He'll know and he'll learn soon enough
