Almost like Fire and Ice

The guards soon moved Will to another room. This time the room had a door with only one hole to see outside. No windows so it made it hard to see, the only lights were the fire torches. As he was entering the room Will saw a girl with beautiful long blonde hair and unusual blue stripes on her hair. She was laying on the cold ground sleeping. Her face was turned down so Will couldn't see her face.

The guards locked one of Will's feet with a chain to keep his magic low as possible. As they left Will sat down on the ground. He wasn't in the room that long and he was already bored. He didn't know what to do, he had thought of waking up the girl. When he reached to wake her she moved and turned, that now her face was facing up still sleeping. She looked really pretty pale white skin with a little bit of pink on her nose and cheeks. She also had red pinkish lips that seen to glow in the torched light.

He didn't want to wake her up she looked calm and fragile like if he touched her she might break into pieces. His boredom took over him that now he was poking her cheek as gentle as he could.

She started opening her eyes as Will moved her hand away. She seems puzzled and a little bit shocked like she just saw a ghost. Then she settled herself and sat up rubbing her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" she said with a glare on her face.

"Nevermind I just remembered the guards saying there were going to put a troublemaker here," she said looking satisfied with herself.

"You're not one to talk about troublemakers when you yourself might be a troublemaker," Will said looking at her.

"Whatever, Why did you wake me up?" she said annoyed.

"Well I thought we could talk plus I was bored," Will said ignoring the annoyance in her voice.

"So what am I supposed to do? Entertain you with what? It's not my fault you got in trouble. I see you're not afraid of saying what you think. You should thank that big head of yours that you're here." she said a little angry.

"I think I liked you better when you were asleep," Will said stating the truth.

She then leaned over at him that they were face to face. He could see her eyes very clear they seem to change color every 3 seconds. She started sniffing him. 'Do I smell bad or something' Will thought.

She sat back and said with interest "You come from outside, don't you? You were outside with people like you and me? With abilities I mean."

'How long has she been here?' he asked himself. She looked so lonely and lost.

"When was the last time you were outside?" Will asked the girl.

"Why do you want to know? Why don't you tell how many years you have been here? Maybe I could trust you more." she said looking away.

"Fine, fine I will tell you," Will said smiling at her of how clever she was.

"But first my name is William Hayden. What's yours?" Will said.

"M-my name is April, just April," she said.

Will surprised said "Ok, I came here when I was 10 and now I'm 14 so I have been here 4 or 5 years. Now may you answer my question and say how long have you been here?" said Will.

"I came when it opened when they put the new rule that all people with abilities should be captured. I came here when I was five years old. I was the second kid they brought after....h...someone." she said looking at Will.

"Who was the first person?" asked Will knowing he was asking a question with no answer.

"Why should I tell you? In fact, I'm just waiting for breakfast. Plus, you shouldn't get the guard mad or the guard will take away both breakfast. I bet people call you Will don't they." she said getting her old self back.

"Yeah, that's what they call me." Will said with a sigh looking at the fire torches.

"You know you're weird for a troublemaker." She said looking at the floor.

"Yeah? And you are crazy for a lady." Will said grinning.

"A mad woman with a weird guy like you, fate sometimes amazes me," she said laying down on the cold stone floor.

Even though Will never really believed in fate something about April made him want to believe everything that she says. 'Fate?' Will thought 'was that why he was here to meet someone? To find himself?' A sound someone walking broke Will's thoughts.

A guard quickly came in and said "Good morning pretty girl." looking at April, who was still laying down with no intention of getting up.

As the guard looked at Will his grin turned into a glare and said "Brought both of you breakfast." He through two plates on floor and left.

When the guard was gone and the sound of steps had faded April stood up grabbing her plate. She sniffed it like if her nose can smell anything. Will might have guessed she had an ability like that, but it was kind of strange to think about it.

She noticed him starring at her and said "Why you looking at me? If you think I'm weird you should see yourself before judging people." Then she folded her arms and turned her head away.

"Well, I'm sorry. Never mind that, but how old are you?" Said Will curious.

"Are you saying I look old or something? Just for your information, I'm 14 years old like you." she said facing her plate again and grabbing the bread.

"Yeah, I figured." Will said. "What do you do for entertainment? I mean there has to be another thing to other than sleep and eat bread right?"

"Well, that's usually how I spend my days here." April said after taking a big sip of water.

"Have you ever thought of escaping?" Will said trying not to annoy her again although he wasn't really successful at that.

She stopped eating and said " I did try to escape multiple times, of course, none were successful. But one time I manage to let some of my old friends escape and then after that, I had to be locked up here. I was never to be let outside well that's what the guards always tell me. I don't care though."

Will knew that she did care, but tried to hide, tried to hide her feat of staying here forever. Will didn't know what to do or say. And there he thought to deal with wealthy spoiled kids was the worst job ever, but being locked up here was even worse.

Will didn't know what got into him but said "I'll get you out of here I promise and you'll see the stars in the sky again. And I never break a promise." before he knew he was already smiling at her.

April first looked surprised and then she smiled. "You're such an idiot, but I believe you. Now keep your promise and don't forget about me. You finally gave me hope and that's all I need." she said still smiling.

Will didn't know if he did the right thing, but he knew one thing that he finally made her smile and distracted her from this dark room.

The next day, April seemed to treated him a little better, but still she made it obvious that Will annoyed her only less than yesterday.

April was laying down like yesterday. Will then notice that she was wearing a white dress that he hadn't notice before. She was always in the shadows and the only thing that stood out was her glowing multicolored eyes.

"What? Why are looking at me do I have something on my face?" April asked.

"No it's nothing...." he said looking away and embarrassed.

This was really awkward, but April waved it out like it was nothing. Then they heard footsteps coming towards them. April quickly stood up and faced the door. The door then opened and there came a guard. Behind the guard was a priest. 'What now do they think we're possessed or something' Will thought. But then April sat down straight and was waiting for the guard to go away. She seemed eager to talk to the priest for some reason.

When the guard was gone the priest smiled at April and then noticing Will he turned to face him a smiled at him too. Will glared back he didn't trust this guy not even if he was a priest.

"Don't glare at him like that William! It's rude and he doesn't deserve your glares." April said trying to stay smiling the priest and apologizing to him.

"It's ok. I see you have a new friend. What might your friend's name be?" he asked April with so much kindness to his voice that calmed Will down.

"My name is William. William Hayden if I'm clear." Will said looking at the priest with curiosity.

"Oh, I Almost forgot. Here I have some clothes for you, April. And I'm sorry, but I didn't know you would have a friend here so I only brought you some clothes. It Plus, I think you can give your friend some of your more boyish clothes if-" the priest was saying before he was interrupted by Will.

"No, it's ok. I don't need new clothes my clothes can handle things." he said with a smile showing the priest he was still grateful for the request.

"Has anything new happened? Has the queen given new orders? Is there any news about any people with abilities spotted in any villages?" asked April all at ones. Will notice she was eager to know what was happening outside and the priest provided that. Answers!

Will didn't really care about what happened outside since it wasn't his concern but seeing April so eager made home eager to know more about the outside. Even if he had a low possibility of escaping he still wanted to know what he will be facing.

"Slow done girl and ask the questions one at a time." said the priest laughing a little at April's eagerness.

"Sorry. I guess I was too excited again." April said.

"Has anything new happen?" she asked again while the priest slowly nodded his head 'no'.

"Has there been people with abilities out in the streets?" April asked hopefully.

Will didn't know what she was referring to, but then priest looked surprised and then he calmed down before answering the question.

"Well." the priest started saying.
