Seventy Seven

As I was sinking into the water, I saw a blurry figure jump into the water, but I passed out before I could figure out what I was looking at.

I woke up in the flower field, and looked for Kevin hoping that he could help me. I searched for him everywhere, but I couldn't find him no matter where I looked. When I was about to give up, I suddenly saw the hooded figure. I asked them to reveal themself, and it was Merlin.

I was ecstatic to see him again, but I felt like I had let him down. Zephyr and Paul had won and probably took everyone as prisoners if they hadn't killed them by then. He looked me dead in the eyes and told me that I had not failed, not yet at least. Zephyr and Paul may have won the battle, but I needed to win the war and I needed to do it rather quickly. The second I give up, they've won, but the idea of more people losing their lives for my sake wasn't very appealing either.

Merlin stood quietly in front of me, thinking, before he told me to look at things from Zephyr's perspective, and that made me realize that he wouldn't get his hands dirty. If he killed Elizabeth, Donatello, Joan, and Arthur himself, I would hate him forever, but if Paul did it, then he could use that as a reason to get me on his side and betray him. He wanted to break me and corner me until my only choice is him.

I thanked Merlin as I embraced him, but we didn't have time to catch up. I asked him if he'd be there the next time I fell asleep, and he told me that he had to catch up with Kevin anyway.

I opened my eyes and found myself on a giant rock. I looked around at all the shipwrecks all around and I teared up a bit as I did. I then turned around and saw the white-haired girl sitting next to me.
