DRAVEN TRUTH
Jesse and Eclipse were finally in the mansion, Jesse's room to be precise. As it was cold, too cold for his frail human mate, Jesse provided Eclipse with a mug of hot chocolate. They sat on the plush and bouncy bed with gray covers.
Eclipse decided to bite the bullet, "Jesse..." Her voice came out as a breathless whisper which made Jesse's unmoving heart beat faster. He liked the way she called his name.
She continued, "I want to know everything about you and our relationship. Please tell me".
Jesse's facial expression became serious. He already planned to tell her everything, it was the main reason why he wanted to spend time with her.
Jesse started telling her everything single thing about him. "I was born a very long time ago, longer than you can imagine. My mother was a human and my father is the man that was supervising the battles. My mother and father met at a time where the forbidden forest was not really forbidden. It was free for people to visit and it was safe to and extent.
With people having free access to the forest, the humans soon discovered supernatural beings. The supernaturals were ready to cooperate with the humans to live as one, but the humans saw the supernaturals as threats.
They decided to get rid of supernatural beings by their numbers, thinking that the notion "strength in number", would work in that case. They were in for a great surprise. The supernaturals defeated the humans without major losses on their side. Amidst the fight between the humans and supernaturals, my mother died. She refused to leave my father and the humans killed her for it. But Alex and I were already born before then.
Seeing that the humans were unwilling to cooperate and having lost interest in cooperating with the humans, the supernaturals decided to move into the forest where the ambiance was to their taste, and left the humans to the lands.
They forbade the humans from setting into the forest and left a warning to the humans, that if any of them tried to act smart and wander into their territory that they would never return again. They also built up a neon barrier that does not allow any human to get out of the forest after getting in, except on rare occasions like when I held your hand to leave the forest.
The humans realized that it was a good deal. They decided to keep to the lands and stay out of the forest. They made a pact to take the secret of supernaturals existence with them to their graves only leaving warnings to never set foot into the forest.
As the years went by, some curious humans didn't heed the warnings of their ancestors and decided to explore the forest. These humans never went back, dead or alive.
What really happens in the forest is that when a human steps into the forest and has great potential, he is turned into a supernatural by one of the creatures that stumble upon them, that is, if they hadn't been eaten by then. If the human does not have great potential, he is used as food source, especially by the vampires who feed on human blood.
The incidents of the humans entering the forest but never returning caused people to believe that there was a strange force, a supernatural force that is behind the disappearance of the humans. They ceased their exploration of the forest.
My father raised Alex and I alone. He taught us how to fight. He brought the Aquilla gorilla shifters to the top of the food chain. My father created the entire Aquilla Troop in memory of my mother, Aquilla."
At this point, Eclipse was touched hearing Jesse's story. Some drops of tears escaped her eyes which Jesse wiped away lovingly.
"There's no need to cry sweetheart. It's all in the past.", Jesse tried to console her even though he didn't feel like it was 'all in the past'.
Eclipse sniffed and allowed Jesse to continue his story.
"Seeing how my father worked hard to build up this family, I decided to become stronger to assist him and so did Alex. Together we gained unimaginable strength and made the Aquilla Troop a family that should not be trifled with.
We basically terrorized the place. We totally destroyed anyone that crossed our path, only having one thing in mind, to make the Aquilla Troop a feared family.
I naturally despised humans as my mother was killed by them. I always cursed fate for giving some of the Aquilla shifters humans as mates. When Beast and Xado would bring up scenarios like 'What if I had a human mate?'. At that time, I used to say that I would crush her beneath my fist but little did I know how true those scenarios would turn out to be.
Only difference is that I would never hurt you no matter what. Alex and I lived for many centuries instilling fear of the Draven brothers in supernatural creatures. At that time, the vampires wanted to be at the top of the food chain. They challenged us to duels and did all sorts of petty things to be at the top but they could never match us, not in speed nor strength.
As time went by, I waited for my mate secretly. When I was not looking for ways to install fear or get stronger, I found myself thinking of a life with my mate. I waited and waited for centuries but I didn't find my mate.
As usual, I cursed fate for not giving me a mate. I gave up hope of finding my mate. Alex never found his mate too. In the world of supernaturals, the normal time frame to find mates is within 8 centuries, but Alex and I waited for more than 8 centuries and still we did not find our mates.
This led supernaturals to believe that the Draven brothers were cursed to live without mates because of their evil deeds. Even I believed this at some point, until I found you. You're my whole world Eclipse. Right from the day I heard your beautiful cries as a baby, I knew that I couldn't live without you, whether you're human or not.
Since then, I've decided to put my hate for humans aside. I've come to realize that not all humans are the same.
After all this, I just know one thing, that I can't ever live without you. I love you Eclipse"
