Unlocking It.

It was a fine new day.

Unlike the previous day where he perhaps nearly died for being reckless... But, why did he...?

'Why did I...?'

Yes why did you, Oisin? Are you stupid?

"I faced near-death moments a lot. So I was subconsciously assured that I wouldn't die, as strange it may sound..." Oisin answered Aiden.

The two were still chatting on the 'hospital' bed, and as things stood, the two became friends...! Quite... quickly.

Oisin had one last question to ask, so he did. Before getting up.

"How do you all know the time, too? Is there such a rune too?"

"No. One of our survivors has a hand watch. Luckily it was a high quality one and its battery didn't run out, yet..."

Oisin looked satisfied, so grabbing a handle of the bed, he slowly descended from the fine stone structure. Also he was hurting anymore. As Aiden said, he passed out for an about three hours at best, so it didn't turn out to be too big of a commotion.

With Aiden, he then left the hall. This hall was where injured and sick survivors were supposed to be kept. In turn, it was completely empty until he came.

The outside was beautiful, now that Oisin noticed it. He could casually see the far horizons from the camp, delighted by a eerie crimson red sky. Of course, he hated that dawn, but he wouldn't deny that the scenario was rather heavenly... sometimes. However, the fact that he had been seeing the nearly same scenario everyday for the past two years, the beauty lost its value.

"Where are we going now?" Oisin asked Aiden.

"Why? Back to the main hall of course." he grinned. As though he was wanting to see Oisin do something crazy again.

"Ah... right. You wouldn't leave me before I unlock my ability today, would you?" he said, staring nowhere as if he blanked out for a while.

Aiden simply nodded as he kept that smile on.

Oisin was wondering about Nahn, in truth. He agreed to support Aiden, but he wasn't nearly sure that he was correct. Neither was he sure that Nahn was hiding something. In any case, he would surely not love to spend his whole life in this camp, no matter what facilities it may provide...

They casually walked till they reached the place. He could see those two little stone boulders from his place, that was where the two were sitting a few hours ago. It was evident from Aiden's motions that he was heading the place again.

'Boy are we both crazy?' Oisin though, slightly realizing how bizarre this situation was.

"Check your core again. Even if it filled by one twentieth or something, you can attempt to unlock the ability." said Aiden, prompting Oisin to do that.

And Oisin did too, silently.

His core did seem to swell a little. One twentieth or what, he didn't know. But he could in fact, feel some more energy in his rune core at the moment.

"There is... quiet some." he replied.

As the two reached there destination, Aiden sped up and claimed his place upon that stone. Oisin could bet that used to randomly sit in this stone from long before he came.

Oisin, too, sat in the other stone. Just like before.

Aiden didn't say anything. Perhaps knowing that Oisin knew exactly what to do. And maybe... he just did.

'So... like the basic runes I use this rune too? Try to make of output it? Well, hell, I didn't even learn to make output of my basic runes too.' he said that. But in the next moment, he corrected himself, 'Ah, well, Aiden did say that using the unique energy was somehow easier...'

So he did that.

The energy he felt inside, he tried to move it out of his core. Unlike before, now he had a better understanding of how this thing really worked. He didn't just give it a sheer command. But rather he was supposed to feel the entire path of its flow, and direct it, through the feeling... it all comes down to extreme focus though, which luckily, Oisin was expert in.

To Oisin's suprise, Aiden was saying the truth, using the unique energy came to be indeed easier. The energy, or at least most part of it swiftly left the core and started travelling towards the palm. He wanted to see if this produces a different type of light or what.

The basic runes gave off a light that was rather transparent in color but had a plain hint of red. The energy moved truly far quicker than the basic runes. But what he felt next... was troublesome.

His body absorbs the basic rune energy, he knew that. But the absorption was rather fast. The areas of his wrist and elbow gathered chunks of rune energy, which perhaps might stand as an obstacle for his unique core, so he decided to use those runic energy and use them up before the unique rune energy appears in that area.

'So damn confusing.... wait does that mean I am a genius...?' Oisin thought.

"Hey Aiden," he asked, even. "can basic runes unique runes mix together?"

"I don't know. I can't use basic runes, if I didn't say it yet." he replied.

"What the hell...?" Oisin exclaimed to this sudden revelation. He did not know if he was joking or he was serious. In any case, he understood that wouldn't help so he was about to stick to his plan.

In the moment, as Oisin saw, his wrists glowed up, and so did his elbow, quickly using up the energies there.

'Such a precious waste.'

On the other hand, his unique runes had nearly made his way to there. It's rather weird, really. Even Oisin didn't expect for himself to be able to learn to control this complex rune energies this fast...

Oisin's new energy made his way to the elbow and to the wrist, and then, it was at the palm. He knew what he needed to do. Gather the energy, almost compressing them, to a singular point.

He did that.

He went exactly as he learnt, half-understanding the basics though.

And thus, Oisin...

He unlocked his rune ability.

---

Aiden was sitting atop his stone, curiously watching Oisin try his best. It was his bad habit, to watch others try their best while he was already competent in that job.

Well, he didn't mean to mock them. He just liked to see them suffer....

'Nah... he is my brother afterall.' Aiden paused his intrusive thoughts.

As the lights glowed up on his wrists and elbow, he was impressed. Its actually considered hard to glitter places other than the palm, but he was there, doing it, with an experience of... five hours? Of which three hours were spent sleeping...

Naturally, he leaned forward. He understood what strategy Oisin had employed. In other words, it isn't long before Oisin shows his runic ability.

Subconsciously, Aiden smiled. A smile out of pure curiosity. Did you ever see anything like that?

*PASSSHHHH*

"AH!" Aiden nearly screamed.

"AHHHHHH!!" and Oisin screamed for sure.

Neither of them expected this.

"What the hell, don't tell me this...."

"Haha.... you sure are weird..."

In ahead of them, a stream of blood was coming out of Oisin's right palm.

"Am I about to die!?" he asked, out of pure genuine concern.

What else would you say if an outburst of blood pewed out of your body, and you never knew if that amount of blood even existed in your body!?

In fact, the amount of blood Oisin released was tremendous.

A lot of it was spread to Aiden's robe. He could easily be caught as a culprit of murder then.

"How the hell do I stop this!?" he asked, again. His face showed clear scare while Aiden's showed... amusement.

"Uh.. Try getting the energy out? Or just wait for it to finish... And no, this amount of blood doesn't even exist in you, the entirety of it is runes. Don't worry." Aiden assured him.

"But..." Oisin gulped looking at him. "I already can't feel the energy anymore though...!"

"Oh, brother. You sure are weird."

That day, those two poor fellow, bathed in a real stream of runic blood. For how long? They don't even... remember.

'How bizarre.' Oisin thought at the end, reflecting to the situation. What else was he supposed to say?

---

Hains was a mere child in that camp. After its 5:00 AM, he regularly maintained going outside, and playing...? That day, too, he went outside.

Hains already unlocked his rune core last year. How prodigious!

His only parent, his mother, had high hopes for him... although the hopes were burnt out, in this desolate hell. And Hains, that child, could let his wings out, fly around...

'What am I even thinking?' Hains mocked himself as he opened the door of his hall to go outside. He intented to call Sabr and Nuji to play with him. But there house was far, almost opposite to his hall, crossing the main the hall.

So that was his destination for the day.

As the poor child, started for his friends, after a while he stumbled upon a creepy scene.

'Isn't that brother Aiden? Who is it with him? And what the hell is that...?' said he, referring to the great stream of blood.

The child even ran to Aiden, to get a better view.

But as he came close...

"WHY THE HELL IS THIS NOT STOPPING?"

"I DON'T KNOW."

"AM I GOING TO DIE!??"

"NO! I AM TELLING YOU FOR THE FOURTH TIME NOW!"

The little child heard those two screaming from afar. And then, he noticed what it was.

Real blood.

A freaking sea of real blood.
