Burning Passion : Breaking All Rules

When love blossoms unexpectedly between a teacher and student, it is utterly passionate but also dangerous. Spying eyes linger even inside the most deserted hallways, waiting hungrily for a drop of fiery gossip. Gossip which can spell ruin for James’s famed career and for Lia’s chances at her dream university. Heartbreak follows more heartbreak when the two are separated for years through a spider web of misunderstandings and lies, only to be reunited again when fatefully James is Lia’s boss at work. The burning passion which was hidden away for years sparked again, and this time neither of them wanted to hold it in.

Chapter 63 - Confession

Mae assembles in the living room according to her father's call. "What is it dad?"

"Your sister's birthday is coming next week, if you remember."

"Of course I remember. What about it?"

"We haven't discussed the party yet."

Mae looks a little confused. "We have a party every year, what's there to discuss now?"

Carter lets out a deep breath. "Mae, do you realise this is going to be the last birthday Liya will be celebrating with us? Or that her last birthday party we will be hosting?"

Mae looks pleasantly shocked and looks at Maya. "Is this really dad? I didn't know he was capable of having those emotions," thinks Mae. Maya looks equally surprised at Carter.

"Dad, is this you talking?" Mae giggles.

Carter smiles briefly. "I may seem reserved and distant, and sometimes even cold, but I'm still a father. I go through all the emotions a father does but just keep it to myself."

Mae and Maya grin at each other. "Woah, that was surreal. So what do you want to discuss?"
