A Gigantic Magical Leyline

As Chen's retreating silhouette grew increasingly blurred, a flicker of thought passed through Alexander's eyes. The man had struck him as odd, but he pushed the thought aside.

"Turn back if you don't intend to continue," Alexander told Leopold, before promptly pivoting and striding off in a direction opposite to the one Chen had chosen.

"Come on, bro," Beauregard urged Leopold, and quickly followed Alexander. After a moment of resolve, Leopold joined them too.

They walked for about another twenty minutes, and the surrounding white mist finally dissipated almost entirely. They could finally get a clear view of their surroundings. 

They were on a narrow mountain path, flanked by rocky cliffs and strewn stones; otherwise, there was nothing else to be seen. The atmosphere was eerily quiet, the only sound being the soft rustling of their footsteps on the gravel.
