Chapter 57

Arriving at Mantarys Maximus had let Daenerys lead a small force to take the city since the number of defenders were only a few. Aerela was back at Qohor since while she was a good fighter she was better at diplomacy, so she was handling some diplomatic matters of the Empire.

Aleanna was with Daenerys, leading the small force to take Mantarys. Maximus led the rest of the army past the city onto the next city, which was Tolos. Tolos lies on the northwest coast of Slaver's Bay on the Black Cliffs. It is connected by Valyrian roads to Mantarys and Bhorash. To the west lies the city of Elyria on its island.

Some hours later as the army approached Tolos Maximus could see a Massive Navy in the water blocking any ships from coming in or leaving. This was the Imperial fleet which had already surrounded the port of Tolos as well as the Port of Elyria.

As Maximus and his army approached the city, a white flag was waving above the walls, signalling the surrender of the city. The City Magisters overwhelmed by the Imperial Navy and the army had no choice but to surrender.

The Imperial army marched into Tolos displaying the Imperial flag as they walk throughout the city. The Imperial flag was planted on the walls of the city, showing that it was now occupied by the empire. All the Slave Masters were rounded up and executed publicly in front of everyone, as the slaves were freed as well.

Since Slavery has been going on for centuries, the former slaves don't know what to do, nor do they have the knowledge of how to fit into society. Maximus had a plan for this, but right now he needs to finish this war first, then he will implement his plan.

A small garrison was left in Tolos while the rest of the Imperial army proceeded on. Maximus had received a report on the cities indicating that most of the cities had less than 5k men defending it, while Yunkai had close to 10k.

So he split his army into three groups. One group of 10k soldiers led by Aleanna will head to Meeren and occupy the city. Another group of 10k soldiers led by Daenerys will Naval invade Elyria. The last Group led by Maximus will Naval invade Astapor.

After Yunkai is the last remaining city, both the armies of Maximus and Aleanna will attack Yunkai from both sides surrounding the city. Daenerys and her army will also come and Naval invade the city while it's surrounded.

Though the last plan might not happen since Yunkai might surrender once they see the Thousands of soldiers surrounding the city.

Since a major battle didn't happen, the imperial army didn't need much rest, so they went ahead and marched on to their objectives. Since the war started, the Imperial army hadn't lost a single battle and have conquered three cities, so Morale amongst the soldiers were high.

The other army led by Julius had just arrived at Myr and started sieging the city. The second fleet of the Imperial Navy was in the Sea of Myrth blockading the port of Myr. The Navy would have surrounded all three cities at once, but the second fleet didn't have that many ships, as it was a new fleet.

The Myr Magister council was desperately trying to negotiate with the Imperial army by claiming that their actions were not justifiable. Julius didn't care about the Magisters nor their claims, and wanted to hurry and capture the city while minimizing the casualties.

Myr was able to gather 20k men as a defense force, but even then they were outnumbered 2 to 1. But they had the advantage of the city walls, which would be deadly for the Imperial army to have to climb.

Fortunately, the army had siege towers or else they would have suffered lots of casualties. The army also had some Cannons which were used to blow open the Gate of the city while the siege towers advance on the walls.

The Roman legions had advanced towards the gate in testudo formation, blocking all the archer fire from the walls. The siege towers were being protected by one of the Wizards sent to accompany Julius. The other two wizards were with Maximus.

Malaric which was the Wizard's name was barely even using his full power since blocking the arrows with a magic barrier was easy. And this time he was allowed to join the battle personally, so he had a smirk on his face since he wanted to see how strong the enemy troops were from his world.

Once the siege towers had reached the wall, the doors were opened and the Roman legions had begun fighting with the soldiers on the walls.

Malaric had headed to the City gate with the other troops. Once at the city gate, Malaric just blasted the troops defending the gate away, which caused the ones who survived to either become injured or to surrender.

The soldiers defending the city were slaves, so they didn't have that much Morale to begin with and knowing the reason why the Imperial army was attacking the city was to stop slavery, most didn't want to fight.

Some soldiers even surrendered after the first engagement with the Imperial forces, since they were too strong.

The same was happening all over the city as the Romans legions poured into the city, forcing the Myr defenders to surrender. The slave soldiers were all gathered together while in front of them the Magisters were being executed along with the Slavers.

The battle was over and the Imperial flag was flying over the city walls. Julius had the army occupy the city for a week while the soldiers rested and relaxed from the battle. They had been fighting since the war started, and never did they have time to relax and enjoy themselves.

Tyrosh and Lys hearing what happened to Myr had no choice but to surrender, but the Magisters wouldn't just allow themselves to be executed, so they fled the city to the only safe place from Imperial influence which was Westeros.

They took all of their belongings and riches and fled to the nearest city in Westeros, abandoning the city.
