Shattered bonds

"Where, am I?" Elijah muttered as he opened his eyes, his gaze reaching the wooden ceiling that took him under its care. He can hear voices, soft and gentle.

The young lad turned his head, his cheek cushioned in a sea of silk, eyes panning the room he was placed in.

It was fairly empty, but overall it was just like any other room. The voices though, caught his attention and curiosity.

Slowly, he gets out of bed, his feet lightly treading across the wooden floors.

His hands, still shaking from the events that had taken place. His breath hitched in annoyance, grabbing onto his hand in hopes of stopping the shaking, but it didn't do anything.

His breathing was fast and yet no air came, and with gritted teeth, he reached for the door handle once more, pulling the handle and pushing the door, his eyes widening as he saw the two girls sitting in the living room along with a man, he had a short yet curly beard, just as red as the ocean's coral, red hair tied in a thin ponytail. The color of his eyes was unknown, as they remained squinted, his clothes brown and raggedy.

"Ah, you're awake," he smiled, watching the young man as he could barely stand on his own, leaning against the door for support.

"Where am I?" Elijah asked, his breath ragged with hooded eyes, looking up at the man.

"You're on Azure Island," Kaka announces, a smile on her face as he sees the boy is alive.

"You've been out for quite a while, are you alright? What happened—" The man was cut off by Elijah, his words harsh due to exhaustion.

"Where's my father," He asked, still breathing a bit heavily against the door.

"Father?" The man looked at the two girls, who both shook their heads, confused as to what he meant, yet Fiona looked at him with a hint of pity.

"I'm sorry, but there was no one else on the beach." She said, her words fueling the feeling of worry that was already igniting in the poor boy's heart, a raging inferno in the vessel of a ran-down hut, unable to do anything. He pushes off the door, trying to make it to the door, but he walks slowly, his head hangs low, but his eyes remain forward.

"You need to rest," The man says worry soon showing in his eyes as well. "Aren't you tired?"

The young boy turned his gaze away from the man, his teeth gritting to the point of near shatter.

"As tired as I may be, I need to find him, he should be on the beach somewhere if I washed up here…" His thoughts trailed off, so he left the house and closed the door behind him.

"Fiona, could you follow him?" The man asked, the girl nodded and left behind him.

"What can I do, papa?" Kaka asked, looking up at the man.

Her father laughed and patted her head, looking around the house as he thought.

"I know, why don't we make a pie together?"

Kaka's eyes lit up at the suggestion nodding vigorously to his words.

"Yeah! I wanna help!"

"I thought you'd be here," Fiona sighed, watching as Elijah sat on the beach, the wind blowing through his hair, his gaze on the sea once again. Tears welled up in his eyes, sitting in a fetal position. The smell of sea salt took over the winds, and the sun began to set, showing off a beautiful golden hour the water gleamed under its soft light.

There was a soft silence between the two of them, Fiona sitting by his side, looking at the waves.

"I couldn't find him," He muttered, the sound of his voice catching her attention.

"So I just sat here, the sound and smell of the sea always calmed me." Fiona looked at him, her gaze filled with sorrow, her heart ached for him, eyes turning to the sea.

"I lost my mom long ago–" Fiona looked down to her feet, her lips quivering as she remembered the event, "So I know how you feel."

Elijah looked up to her, wiping the tears from her eyes. "I-I'm sorry.." He muttered,

"You have your own troubles–"

Fiona quickly wiped the tears from her eyes, shaking her head vigorously as she got up from the sand. "No, no, you're fine!"

He looked up at her, his mouth slightly agape at her words, confusion riddling his mind.

"I shouldn't have said that I'm sorry!" Fiona apologized, the tears wouldn't stop flowing from her eyes. "That was selfish of me—"

The waves took over as Eljiah sat there, looking up at the girl as she tried to stop the tears from flowing.

"Tell me about her," He said, his words catching her off guard.

"W-what?" She looks down at him, her moist eyes sparkling with the low sunlight.

"Tell me about her–" He repeated, patting the spot next to him, his eyes filled with a determination though his face was still filled with sadness "Your mom, tell me about her."
