Chapter 31
“I got you a clean glass,” Ted said.
“Thanks.”
As they ate their lasagna, Ted said, “Is Papa really all right?”
“That’s what the doctor told me, and Chris seems to agree with him. Anyhow, you can see for yourself after we eat.”
When Ted finished eating, he got up from his seat, walked to where Mickey was sitting, and hugged him tightly. “I love you, Pop.”
“I love you too, kiddo. Now let’s clean the kitchen up a bit, and we can hit the road.”

WHEN MICKEY AND Ted entered the ICU, they found Chris propped up in his bed eating a bowl of soup
“Looks like they got rid of most of those wires and things,” Mickey said.
“Yeah. For a while there I thought I was trapped in a spiderweb. Hi, Ted. Come give me a hug.”
Ted did so, after which Mickey gave Chris a quick kiss before taking a seat.
“There’s only one chair, Ted, but you can sit in my lap, if you want.”
Ted climbed onto Mickey’s lap and sat looking at his brother.
