Chapter 30
Sarah answered the door and was somewhat surprised to see Mickey standing there.
“Mickey! We weren’t expecting you until much later. I hope everything’s all right.”
“Everything is fine, Sarah. They were getting ready to run some sort of tests on Chris, so he told me to go home for a while.”
“Oh my goodness, that’s a relief. When I saw you standing there, I… well, you can imagine.”
“Yeah, you feared the worst. Sorry to have given you a fright.”
“Come on inside,” she said. “Ted will want to hear how Chris is doing.”
Mickey followed Sarah inside the house and down the hall to their library, which had been turned into a classroom. Ted was sitting at one of the two desks, and Parah was sitting beside him… apparently walking him through a math problem. When she heard footsteps, she looked up.
“Mickey! Is everything okay?”
“Chris is fine,” Mickey said. “In fact, he sort of ordered me to go home and rest.”
Ted jumped up from the desk, hurried over to Mickey, and hugged him.
