Chapter 21
Ted got up from his chair, walked over to Chris, and said, “Can I ask a question?”
“You sure can.”
“Are we going to Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House—the restaurant that’s owned by Paula Deen and her brother?”
“That we are.”
“Wow! I wonder if she’ll be there?”
“I have no idea, Ted. We’ll just have to wait and see.” Ted returned to his chair, and Chris explained. “Ted is learning to cook, and he’s a huge fan of Paula Deen—so much so that he records her programs on DVD.”
“That’s great,” the old man said. “Maybe I can introduce you guys to Bubba or Paula, if they’re there.”
“If you’d let us know you were coming, I could have gotten you a good rate at one of the downtown hotels,” Mickey’s father said.
“We have a two-bedroom suite at the DeSoto Hilton,” Mickey said.
“You must be doing okay if you can afford that hotel… and a suite to boot.”
“Chris and I both make very good money, and we own a bunch of rental properties.”
