Chapter 20
Mickey walked up to his father’s desk and handed him a business card.
Mr. O’Donovan read, “Vice-President/Southeastern Region,” and added, “That’s impressive. What does it mean?”
“I’m in charge of all the properties the bank has foreclosed on in the southeast, Pop.”
While Mickey spoke those words, his father walked around the desk and hugged him fiercely.
“I’m impressed,” he said. “You’re probably making a lot more money than you would have if you’d come into the firm.”
“You weren’t so impressed when I told you I’d accepted an offer from a bank after grad school, Pop.”
“That’s true. I overreacted hugely back then, and I’m sorry.”
Mr. O’Donovan looked in Chris’s direction. “Chris, good to see you again, too, and who’s this with you?”
