"I will touch the stars... or die trying." ==================== Note: NO R-18, R**e, Romance or pre-marital handholding. I take no pleasure in writing such things. There's a bunch of killing and gruesome descriptions though. The novel is a bit slow in the first chapters, but after that, it picks up and gets significantly better. Also, the power system is similar to BotDS, but I've asked the author for permission to use it. It's also heavily inspired my writing, but the beginning is where its most prevalent. Alone

Liam made his way towards his house. The surroundings were slightly different than he was used to, but the townsfolk were still the same – they still looked at him with fear, caution and shock.

Heaving a sigh, Liam knocked on his door twice.

"Piss off!" A muffled voice shouted from within, grabbing the attention of those passing by.

Liam scratched the side of his head awkwardly. He knocked again.

"It's me, ma."

Rapid footsteps ran at the door and yanked it open. Eve looked tired. Exhausted, more like. Her brows furrowed and brown eyes welled with tears – pulling her boy in for a tight hug.

She stayed like that, not uttering a word and loudly sobbing on Liam's chest.

"Can we do this inside, please? People are watching."

Eve raised her head and held Liam's shoulders tightly.

"Your eye…" She cried.

Liam smiled wryly.

'This is gonna take some time.'
