Chapter 7 - Upgraded

Later that afternoon, after lunch and a few more health checkups, confirming that everything is alright, a detective came in.

He introduced himself as Naomasa Tsukauchi, a member of this world's police force. Izuku thought it was weird how the members of the police force can't use their own quirks, guns can't quite deal with a lot of quirks after all.

They'd just be an even worse sitting duck in this world. 'Well, I guess someone's gotta deal with the paperwork. I doubt heroes even bother with those.' He thought to himself.

For the third time today, Inko recounted the whole situation again, receiving about the same reaction as before. Though, this time, Naomasa then excused himself for a phone call and made some arrangements.

Izuku was then brought out, letting Inko rest on her injuries. She wanted to follow but it'd only burden her. As they walked through a different section of the giant hospital, Naomasa decided to make some small talk, trying to lighten the atmosphere.

"So kid, how does it feel, knowing that your favorite hero saved you?"

"Huh?" Izuku got out of his own thoughts, "What do you mean?"

"Your mother talked about all your All-Might figures. You do know he's the one who rescued you right?" Naomasa asked

"Ah right…It's nice he gave Mom a private room," Izuku answered with a flat tone. He couldn't care less about who or what rescued his Mom. Though, he will remember to repay this debt of gratitude later on if possible.

If it was a random guy who saved his Mom, it'd be much easier to repay the guy. For All Might to be the one who rescued them only made it harder for him to repay the debt.

"Ugh…" Naomasa didn't expect this reaction out of a 12-year-old boy. Usually, they would be at least excited knowing the number 1 hero, All Might personally rescue them.

"Where are we going?" Izuku asked. They had passed several long hallways and it irked him that he doesn't get to spend his time with Lin or Inko.

"Since you awakened your quirk rather unconventionally, We'll be running a few simple tests to register your quirk and try to make sure this incident won't happen again."

"Oh," Izuku nodded. He doubts this incident will happen again, as it probably only happen because of the splitting headache when god gave him his supposed upgrades. But, he ran with it anyway, seeing that there were no real grounds to which he can refuse.

Naomasa bid his goodbye to settle some more matters as they reached their destination, leaving Izuku alone in a room. Not long after, a bald old man walked in, prompting Izuku's body to flinch in surprise.

'Huh, funny how I met him again now,' Izuku thought as he recognized the doctor in front of him as the one who mercilessly shattered the previous Izuku's dream. Dr. Tsubasa.

"Mom, I'm going out with Lin for a bit. Don't do anything strenuous without me okay?" Izuku shouted out. He saw Inko waving him goodbye from the sofa, agreeing to his words before leaving towards a nearby park.

After the long and boring quirks test he had with Dr. Tsubasa yesterday, everything was deemed fine and the family of two was allowed to go home.

It was already nighttime when they returned to their apartment and was surprised to see their home is all neat and tidy presumably someone's work.

The two were already tired from the journey and didn't bother with anything else and immediately went to sleep. Safe to say Inko didn't want to sleep separately with Izuku, and by proxy, Lin, after the recent incident.

Izuku ran with Lin on his arms, trying to deplete his stamina as soon as possible. He wanted to gauge how weak and untrained his current body is. After all, what can he protect Inko and Lin from with this lanky body of his? A pigeon?

Running down several steps of stairs and 5 minutes of distance was enough for his body to completely be useless. He pushed his hardest but it wasn't even enough to reach the nearby park.

Safe to say, the previous Izuku is about as weak as a 5-year-old child. It baffles Izuku even more that the previous Izuku wanted to become a hero with a body this untrained.

It took him another 10 minutes of struggling to finally reach the nearby park. He found an unoccupied bench and took a rest, catching his breath. If there's any silver lining to this, it's that his recovery is much faster than his previous body.

He didn't know whether it was innately here already or it was one of the upgrades god gave him, but it was very nice and useful for his goal.

It was currently summer vacation for most schools. Meaning, Izuku had about a month of free time he could use to get accustomed to his new body and abilities. It also helped that he won't be needing to deal with a certain spiky pomeranian anytime soon.

He'd much rather train his quirk than deal with that.

While he was catching his breadth much faster than normal, he saw Lin already mingling around with the local pets. The park was filled with families, and some of them brought a pet of their own.

Lin was always smarter than most animals, as she, on multiple occasions, easily understood human speech. It honestly wouldn't surprise him if Lin is now capable of it after god upgraded her.

He saw her already playing around with most of the animals around her, though, dominating is more of the right term, as they all, even the bigger ones, let themselves be clawed at her mercy.

He was honestly kind of mad at god, as the guy didn't even explain anything about his upgrades or Lin's. But, he repressed them, seeing that there was no possible way to complain to a CS or anything. He won't let useless thoughts live rent-free in his head.

Not 5 minutes had passed, and yet Izuku already felt fully refreshed. 'This is insane…My muscle didn't even ache one bit, and I somehow can feel my body getting stronger' He thought.

Izuku initially planned to take it a bit slow with his muscle training at first since his body is still 12 years old, but now, things have changed. He was now sure god had upgraded his body into a higher, more perfect one. At least the recovery part.
