BLOODLINE SERIES: ESPERS

In the year 2040, on the planet Gaia, also known as Earth, humans discovered that the fictitious stories about magic were real. In a place in the Philippines, somewhere in Luzon, they discovered never-before-seen ruins. The ruins were extraordinary, very different from the usual ruins. Images of sorcery adorned the walls, and native languages were inscribed there as well. The International Bureau of Historical Association (IBHA) was created to study the ruins they found. After years of conducting studies and experiments, they achieved what they had sought. They called themselves Esper.

BLOODLINE ONE

"Shione Andrew! You're late for school! Hurry up!" my dad shouted from the kitchen.

I scrambled to get myself ready. I was so late for school. Sir Miko would be furious.

"Yes, Dad! I'm coming!" I shouted back.

I quickly finished getting ready and headed downstairs. I saw Dad preparing breakfast for the two of us. The smell of fried dried fish filled the air.

"Wow, that smells great, Dad," I said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"You little flatterer. Go sit down. I'll take care of this. Don't complain; just focus on finishing high school," he said, talking non-stop.

I pouted at his words and sat on the wooden bench, watching him. There was no denying Dad was handsome. He had a well-defined nose, fair skin, and took good care of his body. Many women were crazy about him, but he didn't seem to notice.

Dad was only twenty-eight. He told me he got Mom pregnant when he was just thirteen. Can you believe it? At that age, he was already a sharpshooter. Hahaha.

Many people thought we weren't related because we looked so different. We didn't resemble each other at all. He said I took after Mom more. He even laughed, saying Mom's genes were really strong.

"Dad," I called out to him.

"What?" he asked while serving rice.

"Why don't you become a model? Or an actor? Or marry a rich woman? That way, you wouldn't have to work so hard. I could even get a job to help out since we have so many debts," I suggested.

"Kid, I've told you before, I have no plans to be an actor, model, or marry anyone. My job is to support your education. And don't even think about getting a job; it's my duty as your father to earn money for us," he lectured.

I sighed, feeling a bit helpless. I felt sorry for Dad. He did all the work, and he wouldn't even let me help with the housework.

"Are you done eating?" he asked.

"Yes," I replied.

"Go brush your teeth and head to school. Isn't today the day you find out your power?" he asked, and I nodded.

I followed his instructions, brushed my teeth, and grabbed my bag.

"Dad, I'm leaving," I said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Take care, son. And don't get into trouble," he said with a grin.

I left the house immediately. Dad could be so silly. I didn't even want a girlfriend yet.

By the way, I'm Shione Andrew, an aspiring knight.

I saw Sir Miko's car parked up ahead. I ran over to him.

He was sipping a latte when I got there.

"Sorry, sir. I just woke up," I apologized.

"No, it's okay. I just arrived too. Ready to go?" Sir Miko asked.

I opened the door and sat in the front seat. He didn't like me sitting in the back because people might think he was just my driver. -_-

He drove me to school, which, by the way, is one of the most prestigious schools in the Philippines: Emerald.

Yep, the most famous school in the country. I got in thanks to Sir Miko, who recommended me because he said I had a knack for analyzing things.

Emerald has a system for classifying students. There are four different badges, each with its own privileges.

Ruby Badge - Class C: This is for students who struggle to control their powers. It's a temporary placement. They get free uniforms and transportation.

Sapphire Badge - Class B: For students who can control their powers well. They get free uniforms, allowances, transportation, and tuition.

Diamond Badge - Class A: For students who have full control of their powers. Like Sapphire Badge students, but with free access to the cafeteria.

And of course, the Emerald Badge.

This is for the expert students whose powers are far superior. They experience the school's luxuries without spending any money.

Each badge has its advantages, so no one really loses out. Unless you're lazy, in which case, you won't get far.

I entered the school. As I walked towards my classroom, I saw a group of students gathered outside a room, watching something.

Curious, I went over to see what was happening.

"What's going on?" I asked, but no one answered; they were too busy watching.

If only I were taller.

I saw a space on the side and moved there. I saw a guy standing with his eyes closed.

He had been awakened. He was about to discover his power.

He touched the crystal ball, and after a few seconds, it glowed purple.

"Wow, he's so powerful! He's a lightning Esper! They're one in a thousand. He's so lucky."

I watched the boy standing in front of the class. He had violet-pink hair, toned skin, and a typical high school student's build.

He would be famous in the school by the end of the day. News spread very fast here.

He was very lucky.
