Chapter 46: Can You Take It

The metal of the dagger clashes against a blade of air.

The vampire had merely jumped back with a small cackle. This was not good for Hayley. The woman before her screeches again causing Hayley to stumble and grasp her ears to block out the noise. She dodges another hurl of wind blown her direction, small cuts appearing on her arms.

The vampiress smirks and replies, “Let me introduce myself, pathetic huntress. I am Lady Irene. One of the twelve seats belonging to the king’s round table.”

Confusion mars her face. “Then why the hell are you trying to kill me?”

Her eyes narrow. “You, worthless human, and our ‘king’ are not worthy of your titles. Lord Ryu will reign supreme at the end of this conflict, and you’ll be the livestock you were meant to be.”

Hayley scowls and states with a mock bow, “That didn’t answer my question, oh villainess supreme.”
