Chapter 45: Splitting Up

Chaos greets them on the other side of the portal.

Leila’s eyes widen at the sight. Students are fleeing the campus as monsters and blood thirsty vampires run rampant. The sky is a deep and dark vermilion red, small lights falling from above and crashing into one of the many burning or destroyed buildings.

She quietly questions, taking Ezra’s hand in her own out of fear, “What happened here? Did I do this...?”

Mamoru speaks up before the second man gets a chance to answer, “Eternal night is falling upon us. It would seem you’re quite the power source, weapon.”

She glares at the man and counters, “That’s not a reassuring thing.”

A creature with several sets of eyes spots the group idling in the courtyard and charges at them with its centipede-like body. Ezra forms a thin sword of ice and readies himself to fight the beast. He dashes in front of the group and makes several slashes, slicing the monster into many parts, blue blood spurting about.
