Chapter 24: Teach Me

Hayley paces the room, thoughts running ragged in her brain.

She had nearly died.

She would have died if Ezra hadn’t shown up when he did and bitten her. Leila was right about the biting too. It was painful. There was no pleasure to it. It felt like she had been stabbed in the neck with a sharp knife.

Hayley inhales.

This whole thing has been a mess. She runs a hand through her sandy blonde hair and exhales the breath she’s silently holding.

She was supposed to go to college and become a special education instructor, not become involved with her roommate’s occult problems. What would she do? Could she do anything? Even if she could, did she want to when her friend needed her most?

The door clicks and opens, revealing Ezra and a tall, blonde man beside him. Hayley quickly approaches the vampire without fear and questions with worried orbs, forgetting about her own troubles for the moment, “Have you found her? Where’s Leila? Tell me you’ve found her.”
