Chapter Six

I couldn't believe all the information I just learnt from reading Grandpa Ben's journals and I wanted to also see his vampire comrade,to try and read the last of his research.

The directions to the secret bunker was found at the back of the journal and written in Morse's code which fortunately for me I was able to decipher within seconds.

I had to thank the police for teaching us how the Morse's code is decoded.

I headed back to slovasi's home where I was currently residing. He was busy treating a patient of his, so I decided to go in search of grandpa Ben's secret bunker.

And according to his journal, the journal was located somewhere in a mountain which was found deep in the upper ridge.

I made the journey to that said mountain and I couldn't find any sign of his secret bunker.

Feeling frustrated,I threw a stone on the ground and heard a sound made when an object hits a metal. So bending down ,I scrapped around the spot where the sound was heard and found a latch which was connected to a door but it required a key so the only option was to use the one Grandpa Ben gave me and fortunately for me it worked.

I just couldn't understand who Grandpa Ben was and how he was able to make to locks open with just a key.

Without wasting anytime,I entered the bunker and was amazed at what I saw.

Inside was sort of a laboratory,there were test tubes and lab equipments arranged in an orthodox manner. And I saw that the bunker also had a kitchen and a room where I found a handsome young man sleeping in it.

I couldn't describe how handsome and beautiful the man was ,he had long luscious hair overflowing on his perfect body which was beautifully structured to show his muscular figure.

He still slept as I moved about in the bunker,inspecting every inch for any hidden microphone.

Finally finished with my search,I begun to scrutinize his body. Deeply attracted to him ,I couldn't resist and planted a kiss on his cheek.

And he opened his eyes and stared at my own,I had spaced and couldn't move.

" I have every reason to kill you,one you entered my abode without me inviting you and you searched my abode without my permission and also kissed me on the cheek." He said

I was startled at his voice,it sounded so sweet and his mastery of English was so flawless;one which couldn't belong to this world.

"Please don't kill me ,I'm sorry for entering your abode without your consent but hear me out first. I came because of Benjamin." I said while trembling in fear without taking my eyes off him for a second.

"What did you just say about Benjamin,do you know him? Answer me!" He said in rage

I didn't know from where to start but I ended up telling him from the scratch,from when I stepped foot in the town to how I found the journals.

"From what you just told me Benjamin or Grandpa Ben as you called him,entrusted his journals to you and asked for you to find me". He said while he watched me closely

"Yes and if you wouldn't mind ,my name is Antoinette but you can call me Anette. Of course I already know your name to be licht" . I said while I offered my hand as a form of greeting.

He took my hand and seemed to listen to my pulse,unknown to me he was actually listening to know whether I was speaking the truth.

Finally satisfied ,he led me to the living room and offered me a cup of coffee .

"You already know what I am so I wouldn't waste much time to talk about myself. So let's get to the matter at stake." He said

He showed me the remaining journals which was three in number and they contained information of Grandpa Ben's latest research.

I took the twelfth one which had the number 12 on it,I didn't understand why he had named all his journals according to numbers and read it.

"                        February 18th 2015  

After licht had run away from the lab,the general's scientists discovered that he had abilities that have surpassed even their best vampire soldiers so the general made plans to have him captured.

We continued to fight the vampires who came after us and with his help I was able to make countless number of wooden bullets to daggers to help protect me from them.

I continued with my research not bothered by them anymore because licht was there to protect me from them.

During my research I found out that   the general was supplying a lot of countries like the USA ,China and others with the super soldiers to build stronger armies. With the rate at which he was selling the soldiers there could be a third world war which I wouldn't want to encounter.

Licht made a discovery while hunting for game in the woods,he accidentally touched a plant and it burnt him.

He quickly informed me and I read a  history on the plant known as Vervain which was pale purple in colour and the history about it was about it being a herbaceous plant which was toxic to vampires when inhaled or touched and the result was being burned. It further said the plant wasn't toxic to humans and could be used to repel vampires by applying it on items or on one's body.

With this new discovery ,I begun to pluck a lot of the plants to and plant them around licht bunker to scare the vampires away and also planted some at my own home to serve the same purpose.

My next move was extracting the oil from it to make pomade to apply on my body in order to repel the vampires I might encounter in town.

I wrote this new weakness of vampires in my journal. Aside from wood they could be killed by heavily intoxication of the plant Vervain.

I made arrangements to make products locally from vervain into pomades and sold them to the town people and because of the sweet smell ,I made quite a fetch and was able to buy lab equipments to stock the bunker.

Way back in the army aside from the training I received ,I was the army's doctor and was responsible for making medicines and drugs to help the soldiers.

So setting up a lab to continue with my research on vervain wasn't going to be a problem.
