Chapter 7: Ryder Evans

Thankfully, he didn't say a single word to me the entire class because I doubt I'd be able to form any coherent words.

I head outside to the courtyard to eat lunch with Evelyn and Jo like we do every day. I look over to the side of the building and see them sitting in our usual spot and make my way over.

"Hey Vii, I got a little info on our dreamy mystery guy!" Evelyn says as she winks at me.

I sit down beside Jo so Evelyn is sitting in front of us on the other side of the table.

"Looks like McDreamy is a transfer from the neighboring university! And as you probably already figured out, he's majoring in business management!" Evelyn says as she's jumping up and down from excitement.

"Ugh.. yeah, I definitely figured that last part out myself earlier.." I say as I lay my head down on the table.

"Oh, his name is Ryder Evans, and he's a senior."

As soon as Evelyn said his name, my head shot up off the table and I looked at her as if she had three heads.

"Um Violet are feeling okay? You look like you're about to throw up." Jo said as she grabbed my hand out of concern.

"Uh yeah, I think my stomach is just a little upset.. I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be right back." I said before taking off in almost a sprint to the bathroom inside the building.

I went to the bathroom sink and turned the water on to splash some cold water on face, hoping to shake this feeling off.

What is wrong with me?! Just hearing his name had me thinking about doing dirty things with him.. Maybe I'm just sexually frustrated.. I haven't had sex in almost a year and half so that would make sense.. right?

I stared at my reflection in the mirror for a few seconds before deciding to put on a bit of makeup. I grabbed my mascara out of my shoulder bag and put it on since it always makes my blue stand out more. After I finished, I lightly slapped my checks to calm myself down and walked out of the bathroom.

I rounded the corner by the cafeteria to head back outside when I ran straight into what felt like a brick wall and I could feel my whole body get weak.

"Ouch! What the hell dude?!" I said as I sat on my butt on the hard concrete floor.

"Oh um, I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." I heard a deep voice say above me.

I look up and I see that it's that guy Ryder.. He's rubbing the back of his head and smirking at me while holding out a hand to help me up. I grab his hand, and he pulls me up off the floor. I just stand there watching him as he bends over and picks up my phone I guess I had dropped.

"Here love, looks like you dropped this." He says with a hint of satisfaction in his tone.

Did he really just call me 'love'? And what the hell is with his tone.. Oh dear god why does he have to look at me like that..

"Oh.. thanks." Is literally the only words I'm able to get out of my mouth as I stare at his. Oh fuck, why do his lips look so soft?

"I'll see you later, love." He says before winking at me and walking away.

FUCK. FUCK. FUCK. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT!!

I rush back over to the table I was sitting at with my friends and give Evelyn this look that just says 'I NEED to tell you'.

"Babe, what happened? Are you oka-" Before Evelyn could finish her sentence, I cut her off.

"He fucking ran into me and knocked me to floor! I guess I dropped my phone, so he picked it up and handed it to me with this evil ass grin in his face.. and he looked at me and said 'I'll see you later, love' and fucking WINKED at me!!" I practically screamed and rushed through every single word as my heart is beating a thousand times a minute.

"Give me your phone!" Jo says as she reaches over and grabs it anyway.

"Wait, he called you love?!" Evelyn said with the biggest grin on her face.

"Uh yeah, twice actually.. and I just stood there completely shocked and didn't say a single word like a total idiot.."

"Hey Vii, I think he grabbed your phone on purpose.." Jo says as she hands me back my phone and shows me what's on the screen.

"How the hell did he put his number in my phone that fast?! He literally only had it for thirty seconds tops!" I said almost screaming and I as I re-read the name of the recent contact in my phone.

"You have to text him! Oh, you can invite him to the party tomorrow night!" Evely says as her eyes light up with excitement.

"Oh no, fuck no. I'm not texting him! If he wanted to give me his number, he could have just said so instead of sneaking it into my phone like that!"

"I think it's kinda cute though." Jo said as she shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe he was just too nervous to ask for it."

"UGH! Whatever, fine, I'll text him.."

"If you wanted my number, you know you could have just asked.."

"Who is this? I think you have the wrong number."

"Violet. You know, the girl you just knocked down in the cafeteria?"

"Glad to finally know your name, love."

As soon as I read his last text, my entire face turned red, and I slammed my phone down on the table. I try to hide my face by burying it in my hands and letting out a muffled scream. Evelyn grabs my phone and reads our texts loud enough for Jo to hear. I look up and see that Evelyn's tying to send a text and I freak out.

"Woah, what the hell are you doing?! Give me that back!" I scream as I grab my phone out of her hands.

"I'm just trying to help a girl out." She says as she winks at me.

Just then my phone dings, letting me know I got a new text.

"Sounds exciting, I'll be there. ;)"

"Evelyn Marie, what the FUCK did you text him!?" I yell as I show her his response.

"I just asked him if he wanted to come the party babe! Plus, it seems like he's really interested in you!"
