Chapter 1: First Day of Junior Year

"Vii wake up! We will be late for our first class of the new semester!"

Why the hell is Evelyn so cheerful first thing in the morning.. every fucking day.. can't she just let a girl sleep in a little?

"VIOLET! WAKE UP!"

"AHHH!" I shrieked as I plunged off my small twin bed and onto the wood floor..

"Evelyn?!! It's like 7 am, class starts at 9!"

"I guessed we could all run down to the Bistro and grab our favorite drinks before class starts!"

Evelyn always loves being up at the ass crack of daybreak.. every day, even on the weekends.. so I don't see why I assumed she'd let me sleep in on our first day of our Junior year..

I reach my tiny arms up above my head before getting out of bed. Walking toward the window between mine and Evelyn's bed, I glance down the beautiful pentacle necklace my mom gave me when I was 13. It's composed of ten karat silver and bears beautiful tiny moonstones on each point of the star and a single opal sitting right in the middle. I open the enormous bay window and draw in the raw smell of the August air before I realize Evelyn is speaking to me..

"Vii!! Stop daydreaming and get dressed already!"

"Ugh, fine.. where is Jo? She couldn't have gotten up before me for once, did she?" I asked as I scanned Jo's part of the room, seeing she made her bed and her backpack is missing.

Evelyn and I have been best friends since birth, since our parents have been close ever since they were in high school. We were raised together and did everything together. We met Jo when we were all in first grade, after her and her mother moved to town. Jo doesn't appreciate talking about her parent's divorce, since she hasn't spoken to her dad since the day they moved. Evelyn and I just clicked with Jo, like it was fate for us to be friends always. So when we all had been accepted into Blackwood University, it thrilled us to go to the same university.

"Well.. About that.."

"Evelyn? Just spit it out!" Evelyn was always horrible at keeping secrets, so I realize I'll be able to draw it out of her.

"She made me promise not to tell you.. but.. she left early to go put in an application at the bar.." Evelyn looked to the floor but I could detect the sad expression on her face.

"Evelyn.. I'm not furious at you, but you realize the only reason Jo wants a job at the bar is so she can see Wes, right? I can't be mad at her for not wanting to tell me, I guess.. she could tell how pissed this would make me."

I CANNOT believe Jo right now! Even after all the times he cheated on her? He even broke up with her three days before they were to go to Ireland over summer break..

"Well.. I think she's being stupid too. I mean, he treated her dirty and left her heart shattered. I hate him just as much as you do! She'll never learn if we make her choices for her Vii.."

UGH! Evelyn has an excellent point.. she's always been the most rational one out of the three of us. I don't know what I'd do without her.. probably tear Wes' head off for starters..

"I know.. you're definitely right! I just wish she'd learn sooner than later.. she will miss out on so many things because she's so hung up on him.. I just want her to be happy, ya know?"

"It's a wonderful thing your girl here already has a plan!"
