The boy named Lucis

Lucis and Olivia were walking towards the room of wizard king while talking . Both of them had a mask on along with a voice changer .

"What happened to Leopold ? felt like he became more mature ?" asked curious Olivia

"He made a friend of his age who is apparently very strong , he got inspired and started taking everything seriously "

Lucis knocked the door and waited and soon he got the confirmation to enter . Inside the room waited the wizard king who handled Lucis a piece of paper which had the mission details .

"I didn't expect Olivia to come with you too Lucis -kun " said Wizard King with a smile

" Well she needs experience too "

Said Lucis as he wore a cloak which was kept in front of him . Lucis secretly worked under the wizard King in this private squad along with Olivia . This secret is only known to 5 people namely his two mothers , Rill , Leopold and his girlfriend Olivia.

Lucis is the only son of the current king so he has to take the throne in the future . Unlike his father who is rotten to the core , Lucis wants to be a good King that people can look up to . That is why he took Wizard king's offer to work under him in exchange of lessons of leadership and understand the situation of the country. He often takes small missions with which he can visit different parts of the country and understand people .

Olivia Lawrence is from a high ranking noble household who was decided to be Lucis's fiancé at an young age as her grandfather had a good relation with the Kira house . Olivia was first mentally disturbed after hearing the news but her viewpoint changed after meeting Lucis . He was unlike any royal she met before , he was full of humbleness and gentleness . His viewpoint and goals was different from others .

For Lucis Olivia was a sunshine in his boring life . She was brave , had a charming personality and very supportive in his goals . Deep appreciation for each made them fall in love with each other .

Lucis looked towards the mission details and passed it on to Olivia . The mission required them to escort a merchant to a town in the forsaken realm while protecting him from attacks of magic beasts or bandits .

They both left the castle and waked to a restaurant .

Wizard King looked at them leaving .

" Envis "

As soon as a said that , a man appeared behind him wearing a mask .

" I will leave their safety to you " said Julius

" Yes sir " said the man as his body turned invisible

Inside the restaurant worked Rebecca with her siblings .

" Rebecca please give us our regular meal and pack rations for a few days" asked Olivia .

Lucis and Olivia began discussing what to expect from this mission . The no. of goods carried by the merchant was large so flying was not an option . They had to travel by foot for almost a week . The path of the mission was from common realm to the forsaken realm .

The food was not a problem as they both were experienced cooking in the wild when they did missions but it was better to carry some food with them .

Lucis inherited Light magic from the Kira bloodline while Olivia had sound magic from her family . Her magic can be used for sensing area around her , healing , debuff enemies or boost magic of allies . Both of them were experienced working together so they don't generally face any problem doing missions .

Lucis and Olivia were standing in front of an old man . Behind them was a line of 10 caravans tied to 5 domesticated mana Bulls .There were around 10 more people with them .

Lucis gave his identity but expect the old man every other person gave them looks of hatred . Both of them reached the same conclusion that something must have happened that made them hate the magic knights .

The old man looked at the situation and told them not to worry about them . They continued in their path till the nightfall and stopped inside a forest for the night . Fortunately the old merchant gave them a tent of their own as it didn't seem like others were ready to provide them with one .

"What the hell is wrong with them , if they hate us so much why did they even bother to hire us ." said Olivia with a sour mood .

"Lets just do our job for now , I will ask the old man the whole story " said Lucis as stabbed small pillars of light all around the camp . They will act as source of light as well as defense against magical beasts .

The night was spent without any problem , they continued their journey though the forest . Occasionally they were attacked by some mana beats but had arrows of light embedded into their heads . One of the 10 men seemed grateful but got rebuked by the others . Once they were attacked by hoards of poisonous insects but Olivia released a peculiar sound with her magic which made the insects fall asleep instantly .

They passed through a river and fortunately the water level was low so they had no problem passing . Lucis caught some fishes for their dinner .

" Old man why is everyone giving us such a look " asked Olivia

" A year ago our village chief and his family went to the capital as his son wanted to attend magic knights examination . The boy defeated someone from the noble household and got selected . Few days latter news came that the boy and his family disappeared . A day latter their dead bodies were found and all of them were killed by the same method . The squad he was selected didn't bat an eye to this case .A lot of people had bad experiences with magic knights such as not taking commissions because we are of low born or charge extra money than agreed .

This is why the villagers hold grudges against the magic knights , they were not ready to hire you both but I decided to hire you with my expenses . Hope you don't hold grudges against them . "

This revelation didn't shock Olivia and Lucis as both of them know the reality . The nobles wouldn't let someone of lower status go ahead of them . Even if they don't do anything , the squad members would hamper with the growth . This is why all the high ranking magic knights are nobles and royals .

All of them reached a village by the 8th day. Fortunately they didn't get attacked by any bandits or high tier mana beasts on the way .

The village was larger than normal village with lots of houses , it was surrounded by a walls made of wood and mud , the caravans entered the village but Lucis and Olivia were forbidden from entering the village .They received the payment for their service from the old merchant and decided to camp in the nearby forest as it was nearly evening .

A big arrow of light was created which took Lucis and Olivia to the nearest forest in a few minutes . Darkness was not a problem with magic . As for food , Lucis was carrying a corpse of a big rabbit which he hunted during the day .

A man who was mounted on a horse looked towards the caravans that entered the village with a binocular like device . After confirming the situation he instructed the horse to run towards another direction .

After a while the man reached a camp where rested around 50 bandits .

The man approached another man who emitted the strongest aura .

" the goods are here boss "

Hearing this the boss laughed and picked up a sword . His laugher gathered everyone's attention .

" Everyone gather , today we have two villages as targets .Take everything , burn the village , capture the children and do what ever you want with the women . I will go east half of them while the rest go west .

Go cause havoc !!! "

" YEAHHH " the bandits roared as they picked their weapons .
