At the church at Hage village

Sister Lily was brooming the backyard when a portal opened near her and dropped two letters with different Insignia. Reading the senders' s name she jumped with joy and called everyone.

The first letter had good handwriting so it was from Yuno. He informed about his selection to the most prestigious squad " The Golden Dawn ".

The second letter had bad writing so it was from Asta. He informed that he was selected in the Black Bulls, the same squad as Julian.

Everyone was overjoyed and a certain boy name Nash had determination in his eyes. Everyone expected Yuno to pass but they were worried for Asta as their father had mentioned how are people with low mana treated. They were relieved to know that Julian will be there to take care of the boy.

Father traveled to the entire village and told everyone of their success. For the second time, people from their village was selected for the magic knights. Moreover not just one but two people together.

Inside the grimoire tower, an old man who acted as the manager of the tower was looking through the window said to himself.

"Looks like the time of prophecy is coming soon. The time when the three legendary grimoires come together and bring changes in the tide of history again. Asta, Yuno, Julian …I hope the history changes for the better. "

: Asta Pov :

Black Bulls are a lot better than expected. They seem more like a big family rather than a squad. This is the best I could ask for. I almost cried tears of joy when I received my room.

I went to wake up Julian ni but found that he was floating mid-air with his eyes closed.

Didn't he have fire magic? how is he floating in the air then? I wish I could fly too.

After breakfast, Magna senpai and Julian took me the complete round of the base. It had a big bathtub, a library, a gym, and a torture room.

Wait! why is there a torture room here! I will stay away from this room.

In the last room, we went to was a giant cage. At first, I didn't understand what it was, but soon a giant claw emerged from the cage and almost struck me. I saw three giant beasts 5 times larger than me looking through my soul inside my cage.

" These are captain's pets. From today onwards you will be feeding them " said Magna.

You want me to feed them are you insane! They will feed on me instead.

Still, hesitantly I held a piece of meat towards them. One of the beasts opened his mouth wide as if intended to eat me with the meat itself but suddenly stopped its movements when the jaws were a few inches away from my hand.

I was confused as to why they stopped but I then noticed that all the tree beast's eyes had turned red with two dots in the same as Julian ni. I turned towards him for an answer

" They won't bite you anymore. Try again " he said.

Taking his words I tried feeding the beast again and this time I didn't behave aggressively and just took the meat.

Sigh, That was scary!

Magna senpai told that a few years back he went on a mission and found these creatures along with the dead body of their parents.

Their cages are kept open most of the time as they roam the forest around the place and return at night. Although I am not too well versed in knowing magical beasts like Julian ni I know that they are the most probably high-tier mana beats.

Julian ni went to get something and told us to go ahead.

I and Magna senpai went towards the exit when I saw a beautiful silver-haired girl. She must be the recruit I missed yesterday.

"Hello my name is Asta from Hage village, " I said and forwarded my hand for a handshake.

She rudely slapped my hands and said.

" Who permitted you to talk to me. I am Noelle Silva. I belong to the Royal family of this kingdom. Know your place insect "

" Who are you calling an insect. You belong to the same squad so are not so different from me " I said. Seriously what's her problem

" Huh! Same as you! I don't sense a single drop of mana from you and you say the same as you. It seems like I have to show you the difference between us "

She charged a ball of water and threw it at me.

I was about to dodge but it changed its trajectory and hit Manga senpai.

He got angry and shouted " What do you think you are doing to your senior "

Both of us became speechless. She passed beside us inside the base but we didn't say anything.

I understood that Magna had a great deal of respect for the squad and the captain. For his squad's robe to be treated like this must be a hard hit for him.

" Asta come outside the base! " I head Julian ni call me and went towards the voice.

Third Person POV:

'That was brutal, her superiority complex will be hard to break. Using force with her will aggravate the situation so I won't interfere now and let Asta reach her heart. Seeing someone the same age as her with no mana growing at a rapid rate in front of her eyes is bound is make some changes. '

Julian called Asta and handed him a book.

" You have just joined the squad and are not ready for doing missions yet. This week, I will train you in knowledge and combat. This book contains some sword styles I copied from fighting different people and captain Yami. Now take out your sword and try hitting me "

He nodded and took out his demon slayer sword and got ready. Julian made a sword out of mana and held it in front of Asta

Julian made his sword clash against Asta's but the mana sword didn't break completely. Asta was surprised that his sword didn't cut through Julian's magic.

Julian made Asta perform all the sword stances from the book knew while telling more about each stance.

Julian showed him some movements with a sword and told him to practice them till nighttime. Julian stayed with him while he was practicing.

" This brings back memories. We used to do everything awfully and you used to teach us the correct way till we succeeded. Sister Lily scolded us so much because we always came back with injuries while playing around" said Asta swinging his sword.

" Yeah brings back memories. Did you meet Noelle? " Julian asked

"Yes, she seems more like a spoiled princess "

Julian explained her basic condition like not being able to control her magic, lack of self-confidence, etc . so she uses a façade to hide her insecurities.

"She is a member of my squad. So will surely help her " said Asta with a determined expression.
