Gaining experience

Another week passed, and Noelle was able to form and hit a water ball at will.

Asta's speed of swinging his sword and response time increased. Julian found that even Asta was magicless he wasn't completely immune.

Julian could paralyze, put him to sleep, or make him tell the truth to a certain level. His resistance to mind control was very high as Julian had to send mana into a body that had no mana.

Asta was immune to a certain level of mana pressure but If the mana pressure increased he would feel the effect too like headache and primal fear.

Currently, the three people were sitting in the cafeteria when Magna and Yami enter naked with only a piece of cloth covering their private parts. Noelle covered her eyes in shame."Ehhhh!"

"Did you lose in gambling again? " said annoyed Julian.

"Forget the small details, the person we lost to was a village chief and we owed him a favor so he asked us to clear out the boars near the Sossy village "

' I remember, this was the time when the boars went in search of food ' Julian thought

" Why do we have to clear your mistakes ? " asked Asta

" How dare you say that! captain's mistakes are our mistakes and it's our job to clear his mistakes!!!" shouted Magna.

"Take this as your first mission after joining the squad, " said before going towards his room. Asta and Noelle reluctantly agreed but they were excited as it was their first mission.

Julian explained the type of boars they were about the hunt and their weakness. Magna told that he owed the village chief for the place he was now. Magna was born in Rayaka, one of the most remote villages, and almost spend his childhood in the forest. When he became a little strong he tried taking food from the village of Sosshi.

The village chief beat him black and blue but he took that as a challenge. He almost came every day to defeat the village chief and bit by bit time passes. everyone in the village saw him as their member and build a house for him there. Watching his fights were daily enjoyment for people. One day the village chief recommended him to try for the magic knights and that year he was selected into the black bulls.

Luck also joined the same year and they became best friends. Yami said that two more members were doing long-term missions but Julian had an only idea about one but never heard of the last member.

Magna, Asta, and Noelle would be the main attackers while Julian would only interfere in extreme cases.

The next day a comedic scene unfolded as Asta and Noelle didn't know how to fly so Magna decided to take them on his weird bike made of the skull and bones of mana beast. Julian refused to carry either of them to purposely make them ride Magna's ride.

They set out on it and on the way accidentally held Noelle's waist but he was elbowed to the face and fell from the bike. Magna scolded Noella and saved Asta before his life ended up falling.

When they landed near the village, Magna was panting as continuous emission of mana for a long duration was tiresome. Natural mana could not recover stamina after all.

Soon they found a group of mana boards and all of them were twice their sizes. They got to work quickly, Asta swung his swords hitting them Noelle was having difficulty. She was troubled watching so many moving targets and missing many shots. But after some mental relief from Asta and Julian that boosted her confidence, her efficiency increased.

Magna didn't directly attack but stunned or created nets from fire for Asta and Noelle to do most of the kills as they need experience.

It was a bit difficult for Noelle to take many lives but she got used to it. It took around 3- 4 hours to clear off the large group of boards.

"Brings back memories of the time when I cleared about 50- 60 boars under 30 minutes at age 12, " said Julian hearing that all the confidence Asta and Noelle gained was washed away.

"Don't compare them with the insane feat you achieved years ago. Not everyone is a monster like you. " said Magna.

'This guy is insane !' thought Noelle

'Well, that's good for me as I can get more lessons from him. Although I don't want to agree, being treated like a sister by him feels nice. If my siblings were like him'

"Okay everyone takes a break for now" announced Julian as he started roasting a boar while sprinkling spices. Sliced it into equal pieces and handed everyone.

"Seems like you prepared everything " Magna

"Yeah, figured that this might make the mission more enjoyable," said Julian

"Thank you for the food" Asta happily began munching but Noelle was conflicted if she should eat that.

'Who cares anymore ' thought Noelle as she took a bite too.

'What is this! How can it be so delicious!'

"It's good right, the spices were specially made by joint research of Charmy and me," said Julian

After the break, they decided to go to the village and inform them about their success but when they went near the village, they were shocked.

" What the hell is this !" Magna shouted.

" Entire village is under a spell," said Julian.

The entire village was covered in thick fog with nothing visible what was going on inside.

'What coincidence, both mine and Asta's first mission is related to the eye of the midnight sun as if it is our destiny to meet them.'
