Chapter 21

"Mr Gilbert is not conscious yet. However, you don't need to worry. He has passed a critical period and will soon be transferred to the infirmary. Excuse me."

Austin could no longer hide his sadness overseeing his business partner and friend he loved like his own brother, lying weakly in a coma.

His face was pale, his eyes closed tightly, making Austin feel thrown into the abyss of darkness.

He gripped his strong fingers with trembling hands. "A man as strong as you, how could you have such a tragic accident, huh? It must be all because of that ignorant woman of your past, right? Pathetic! I didn't expect Darren Ewald Gilbert, the billionaire, to have such a miserable fate." Austin sneered.

"I should have vanished that despicable woman a long time ago." He growled along with the sound of chattering teeth.

It was long enough that Austin had spent time with Darren. It was clear that Austin had forgotten his meeting appointments with his business partners. Luckily, Kenzie reminded him.

A smile seemed to carve on his firm lips. "Thank you, Kenzie."

Before leaving Darren's treatment room, Austin gently patted Kenzie's shoulder. "Take care of Mr Darren. Just let me know if anything happens."

"Alright, sir."

AUSTIN COMPANY

London, United Kingdom

This time, Austin was involved in meetings with his business partner. Conversation after conversation has led to launching a new product that the Austin Company would launch soon.

"So, what's your decision, Mr Austin?"

The asked one did not immediately answer but rolled his eyes as if deep thought. Austin was currently considering which model he would use as the product's brand ambassador.

As if he understood what Austin was thinking, his business partner immediately suggested it. "How about using the services of a model from BM Magazine?"

"I've never worked with that company. So, I don't know what the models are doing there. What I need is professionalism."

"You don't have to worry about that one. I know the CEO of that company very well. If you like, I'll introduce him to you."

"It's not a big deal. Please set the time."

His business partner immediately widened his gaze. "Any time?" He asked in disbelief. One thing he was sure of was that Austin had a very high level of activity.

As if he understood what was lodged in his coworker's brain, Austin immediately explained that meeting with the CEO of BM Magazine was a valuable opportunity that should not be wasted.

The words that just came out of Austin's lips made his business partner feel proud. "Then, how about tomorrow afternoon? Right before lunchtime, you and Mr Obsen can have a small talk while eating lunch together."

"No problem."

Short, concise, clear, that was the sentence that slipped from Austin's lips.

Conversation after conversation continued to flow warmly until his phone rang. Without reducing his respect, he glanced briefly to find out who the caller was. His gaze immediately widened, seeing Kenzie's name.

"It sounds like an important call. Please pick up first."

Austin responded with a faint smile, so thin that even his business partner did not know he was smiling.

"I'm staying for a while."

"Please, Mr Austin."

Austin was currently talking to Kenzie. "What important information do you want to tell me that interferes with my meeting time, huh?"

"Mr Gilbert's condition is getting worse, sir."

At that moment, Austin's eyes widened. "Keep an eye on Mr Darren's progress. I'll be going to the hospital soon."

Before Kenzie could answer, the call just ended. After that, Austin rushed to meet his business partner.

Seeing Austin's face, which showed anxiety and fear, made his business partner question him. "Did something happen?"

The question that had just tickled his ears made him flinch. However, as soon as possible, he could control the situation. His sturdy lips seemed to carve a warm smile. "Everything is under control. I appreciate your concern."

"You are welcome, Mr Austin."

Now, the two of them were involved again in hot conversations about business and, of course, plans to meet with the CEO of BM Magazine, Obsen Brossom.

After the meeting ended, Austin rushed to the hospital by driving his favourite car. He drove the car at such high speed that it felt like he was being thrown. Even so, it didn't scare him at all.

For now, he did not care about his own safety, but he cared about his friend, whom he loved like his own brother, Darren Ewald Gilbert.

After a long time driving in the centre of London, now, the car that took him away has arrived at his destination.

Austin parked his car randomly. As a result of that, a security approached him. Before the security had the chance to raise a loud protest against his arbitrary act, he was already surprised by his arrogant attitude.

Austin threw the key as long as he could to park his favourite car where it should be, ignoring the anger of the security guard.

"Remember, don't let any part get scratched!" He threatened.

His arrogant attitude made the security sick of him. He even wanted to reward that handsome face with a crushing blow.

"Are your ears deaf, huh? If there are scratches, then be prepared to be thrown into the street!"

Austin's threats had made the security shudder in horror. He then immediately bowed as a respectful greeting.

 "Roger that, sir. I will carry out your order immediately."

Austin immediately smirked. "A human like you is like a sewer rat, so it's inappropriate to go against my order." He sneered, lifting the corners of his lips.

The security guard still lowered his face and apologised. "I'm sorry, sir."

A smile full of contempt still etched on his firm lips along with the footsteps towards the ICU room.

Kenzie, who was watching from a distance, rushed over. "Good evening, sir."

"How is he? What did the doctor say?"

"For now, the doctors are still in Mr Gilbert's room."

Kenzie's explanation made it hard for Austin to breathe to the point that exhaling was like swallowing poison.
