Chapter Eighteen: the confession 2

"What plan?" Inspector Eric asked, he looked at Officer Joe expecting an answer.

"How are we going to track his phone when it is switched off?" Officer Ruby asked.

"C'mon guys, it is the commissioner, a government official, his phone has a micro-tracker and we can use that to find him." Officer Joe said. Officer Joe brought up a brilliant idea.

"Brilliant! That is it. So what are we waiting for? Let's get to work then," Inspector Eric said. He signaled other officers to get to work. The policeman rushed to their various departments.

Officer Joe, Inspector Eric, and Officer Ruby went to the Information and Technology (IT) department of police. "Hey you come, please," Officer Joe said, he ordered one of the IT staff to come to him.

"Good day, Sir, how can I help you, sir? The IT staff asked, looking confused and intimidated by the presence and seriousness of the three individuals standing before him.

"I am Officer Joe and these are my colleagues, Officer Ruby and Inspector Eric, we are here to use your micro-tracker system to track someone," Officer Joe said. He introduced himself and his colleagues showing his ID and his colleagues showed theirs.

"Umm. Sir, I can't give you such access, it is meant for a government official only, and you have not reached such a level," the IT staff said. He refused to give the law enforcers access to the tracking system.

"We are policemen and we should have access to that system," Officer Ruby said. She pointed out their position in the government executive officials.

"I am sorry. But I can give you access only if you have a written permit because this is a classified tracking system," the IT staff said. He pointed out his reasons.

Inspector Eric became furious and he couldn't control his anger again, he then walked toward the IT staff held him by the shirt, and said "Look, IT boy or whatever you are called, listen to me and listen carefully, I don't care if it's classified or not, all I want is for you to give me the access to the tracking system and if do not, I will file a report against you and your department and I will say that you and your department is obstruction to justice and how will that look on your report?" Inspector Eric finished his aggressive statement and pushed the IT staff back.

"Okay… okay, I will give you the access," the scared IT staff said.

Inspector Eric turned back and looked at his associates (officer Joe and officer Ruby) and said "sometimes you have to break the rules,". Inspector Eric smiled. The IT staff took the police officers to the tracking room.

The three law enforcers followed by the IT staff, got to the tracking room and the IT staff brought up police commissioner Reynold national data and his law enforcement details and his micro-tracker ID (for high ranked government officials only) and he started tracking the commissioner's location.

After some minutes the IT staff said "yes! I did it," . Inspector Eric rushed and looked at the screen and he said "there is he! He is at Winston Park! Joe mobilize SWAT team and let us end this once and for all,"

"Roger that, let's move," Officer Joe said. The three law enforcement teams organized a SWAT team and other officers to go and rescue police commissioner Reynold. The police rescue team drove with speed heading towards the park while the IT staff kept tracking the device.

The rescue team got to the park, and they surrounded the area. The SWAT team set up a perimeter around the pinned location in the park and inspector Eric asked the IT staff "where is he?".

"There," the IT staff said. He pointed at a White van, parked by the corner and that was the same van that was in the camera security footage.

The SWAT team was ordered to move in. The SWAT team approached the van carefully and all of a sudden a middle aged man came out of the van, ignorant of the situation.

"Get down on the ground! Now!" one of the SWAT officers shouted. The middle aged man was confused and knelt down slowly.

"Let me see your hands! Raise 'em," the SWAT officer shouted again. The middle aged man raises his hands slowly but still confused.

The SWAT team approached him and arrested him, "what did I do wrong? Why are you arresting me?" the middle-aged man asked while he was pinned to the ground by a SWAT officer.

"Stop resisting!" the SWAT officer arresting him shouted. The middle-aged man was handcuffed and taken to a corner while the rest officers searched the van.

The SWAT officers found nothing in the van except the six-foot-tall box that had been laid down. The officers brought out the box and Inspector Eric said "Easy with the box,".

Officer Joe was becoming skeptical about the whole thing, so he asked the IT staff, "Does your tracking system say he is in that box?".

"Yes, he is," the IT staff said, showing Officer Joe the laptop he was using.

"Because I don't think he is in there," Officer Joe said. He wore a skeptic mask on his face as the situation unfolded.

The moment came the SWAT Officers gently opened the box and behold, there was no one there, the box was empty.

"What!" Inspector Eric shouted in a surprised voice, expressing his disappointment.

Almost all the police were disappointed but Officer Joe walked close to the box and saw a letter that said "To whom it may concern, it is all about revenge," Officer Joe showed it to Inspector Eric, and he said, "Good job, send it for forensic,". Officer Joe put it in a transparent nylon bag and gave it to one of the officers.

Officer Joe sat down on the bonnet of one of the police cars and started laughing. "What is wrong with you? We have work to do and you are sitting down and laughing, what is funny?" Officer Ruby asked. Officer Joe's laugh annoyed her at that moment.

"Sorry about that, but can't you see? He is playing with us, we are on a wild goose chase or we are chasing a ghost. Come let me explain better," Officer Joe said. Officer Ruby followed him to see the middle-aged man who was arrested.

"Excuse me, I want to ask a question, where is your associate? I mean partner in crime," Officer Joe asked.

"I don't know what you are talking about?" the middle-aged said, handcuffed and seated in the police car.

"Stop lying and this will be easy for you," Officer Ruby said, threatening the middle-aged man to talk before the use of force.

"I am not lying, the only thing I remember is picking up a guy who wanted to deliver something to the police station, but I swear I didn't do anything wrong, please let me go. This is the truth." the middle-aged man said. He looked at the officers for emancipation.

Officer Ruby was about to say something but Officer Joe interrupted and said "Set him free,".

"What? But He is the only suspect we have right now" Officer Ruby said.

"I said set him free, we have no proof or a reason to arrest him, so set him free," Officer Joe said. Officer Ruby sighed and set the middle-aged man free. Officer Ruby walked away angrily. While Officer Joe was calm and smiling.

The middle-aged was about to leave but Officer Joe called him back and said "Sorry for disturbing you but does the suspect look like this? (he showed him the drawing of Mike he did)"

"Umm. Kind of look like him but I don't really know," the middle-aged replied. The middle-aged walked away and the police officers stood there frustrated.

Meanwhile, Mike and his revenge scheme has kicked off with a big blow to his opponents. Police Commissioner Reynold opened his eyes and found himself tied to a chair, which he sat on. He looked up and saw a bright fluorescent light shine and concentrated on him while the rest of the room was dark.

Police Commissioner Reynold looked around and he saw nothing but there was a camera (pointed at him) and a projector a little far from him.

He was confused while Mike was seated in another room watching him. "Please, where am I? And do you know who you are dealing with?" he asked with audacity.

"Yes, I am," Mike said, through a microphone from the other room.

"And who are you? And why do you bring me here?" Reynold asked. He was looking around to see where the voice was coming from.

"Your judge and you are here for judgment," Mike said.
