ADRIANA

Most times, when I was in the relationship I had with Collin, I couldn't help but feel lonely.

Lonely, like I was dating myself, I never actually felt loved or appreciated in the slightest.

I guess it all made sense now, after everything aunt Barbara said, and after putting the pieces together, I can finally see why.

I couldn't help but be lost in my thoughts even after Elle, mum and I settled in our respective rooms…

For something like that to have happened, they must have planned it for ages, Adriana and Dave at least!

Wait!!!

What if Dave was pretending to love mom the whole time, what if he never really loved her, what if it was all just a plan!?

I couldn't help but think about the multiple scenarios that played out in my head, I don't even think I could describe what I was feeling at the time.

Poor mom, I never even checked up on her properly, she must be devasted.

I got out of bed, heading to the shower, maybe, a nice, warm, steamy shower could help me clear my mind and think about the next line of action!

It was really nice and warm, so I ended up staying there more than I intended to!

With one goal in mind at the time, I headed out of the shower, cleaning my legs on the mat and grabbing my towel, covering myself from the cold gush of air that hit me.

I grabbed another towel folded neatly by the sink, I didn't intend to, but I ended up looking at myself in the mirror as I cleaned my hair.

I looked like a mess! I couldn't help but think, if I looked like this, how did mom look, "has she even eaten today?", I muttered asking myself as I headed to my closet.

That didn't stop me from sighing again as I admired the intricate details in my bathroom. This space had been mine for a few years now, yet, I didn't feel too good about the thought of leaving.

The same happened as I entered my room again and headed to my closet.

I just picked out my underwear, a shirt and an oversized t-shirt, my go-to comfort clothes.

I left my hair to dry naturally, I didn't think I could stay one more minute still in my thoughts about how fast everything happened.

Spreading the towel back in my bathroom, I wondered who entered my room in such a haste without even knocking.

"Trisha, where are you, you have to see this!", I quickly made out Elle's voice, panic stricken as she entered the bathroom, phone in hand.

"What's the problem?!", I asked, wondering what happened so suddenly.

She hesitated a little before showing me the news articles that were published that morning.

On her search engine home page were different headlines about our family and what happened!

"How could they be so fast, don't they understand that someone is going through trying times!?", I asked Elle, who looked just as surprised as me about the whole thing.

Well, I mean it wasn't really surprising because, the night Dad died, several reporters were outside the hospital, frantic for any sort of news they could get their hands on.

I took her phone, checking myself the horrible things they had propounded in such a short time.

Some defamed mom, some felt bad for us, some just simply did their jobs and exposed the news, some spoke bad about Dave, and quite a lot brought back a sore topic, DAD.

"Mom can't see this Elle, shee really can't, she won't be able to cope!", I said, looking Elle straight in the eyes before she gave me a nod.

"These people are horrible!", Elle remarked, clearly stressed

"How do they even know so much?", Elle asked.

Well, I wasnt surprised to see local blogs publishing the news also. Which probably meant everyone in town probably knows what happened to us!

Not like it was a bad thing, we were cheated of dad's hard earned money, but they wouldn't know that….

How would they know, they were too stuck up in gossip to see the truth.

"Oh God!", An exasperated sigh escaped my lips as I knew that once it became public, things would be a lot harder returning to normal.

"Mom cannot see this. It would hurt her even more!", I said again, wondering why it had to escalate this much.

"Speaking of mom, she hasn't eaten anything yet, why don't we make her a nice meal and then force her to eat it?!", Elle asked, a smile plastered on her face.

She clearly knew what she was doing, the comment was an inside joke.

Anytime any one of the three of us felt so sad for some reason, we practically had to make food to comfort them.

It was on rare occasions they ate the food willingly, so we had to force them to eat.

She managed to crack me up. Since it was my mission, I couldn't refuse, so I followed Elle downstairs, where we made a hearty lunch for all of us!
