The Exploration

After Kokoro and Yuzu had rested they decided to continue comparing the maps. The pair wanted to see what had remained the same. They then noticed a cave that had remained intact. They decided to go and search for it. After a few hours of hiking the Amazon, they finally arrived at the cave entrance and realized it was much larger than they thought. "This cave is huge" Yuzu expressed. Kokoro, allowing his curiosity to take over, let out a yell to hear the echo produced by the acoustics of the cave. "Hey Yuzu, we should explore this cave, see what's inside" Kokoro excitedly expressed to Yuzu. "Sure, let's do it. You do have your flashlight right?" Kokoro responding says, "Of course, did you bring yours?" Yuzu responded, "Yes, Let's get to it"

They continued into the cave and began to use their flashlights to look on the walls for any clues. But they noticed the cave only continued in a straight path and only kept getting deeper and deeper. They then noticed something that changed everything, it was not a cave, it was a tunnel. "This wasn't on our map, the map only says there's a cave, not a tunnel. Where could this possibly lead?" Yuzu bombarded Kokoro with questions. "Yuzu, calm down for a second, I don't know yet but we'll figure it all out soon enough," Kokoro replied. As they started getting closer and closer they began to see artwork on the tunnel walls that appeared to be lined with liquified gold. The work seemed to have been done by master artists. The pair reached the end of the tunnel and realized something was off. The sun appeared to be earlier in its daylight cycle than when originally entering the tunnel and the vegetation was healthy as if never to have been corrupted by man. The air was not as moist or as humid as earlier either. The temperature remained warm, however, the heat felt different from before. They had an odd feeling that they were no longer in the Amazon rainforest, or maybe they were. They didn't know what to think, but they knew they would get to the bottom of it. keeping in mind where they stood, the sun being earlier than it should've been, they knew they didn't have much time before they would have to head back. The two friends were breath taken by the beauty around them. They could not believe their eyes, they wished they could stay longer, but until they could figure out why the time was earlier they had to head back and examine their findings.

They headed back and ate together again, for it had become a custom. They conversated with each other. "Hey Kokoro, did you notice the sun's location on the other end of the tunnel?" Yuzu asked, "Yea Yuzu, it was odd. almost like we time-traveled and went backward. Why do you think that is?" Kokoro replied. They continued to conversate through the night to attempt to understand their unusual findings. They were so tired they'd not noticed they'd fallen asleep in the same room, side by side. However, they paid no mind to it and saw it as an accident for they have been friends for 15 years, as they continued to discuss the mysterious tunnel.
