CHAPTER 4

The event had already began when they walked in and so lots of eyes were staring in their direction. Most of the eyes were on her particularly, some looked at her with surprise, some with anger. Of course she should expect this from them, they probably think that she was too little to be walking with a billionaire. 

Her accomplishments as a doctor would not even hold a candle in the presence of these elites, most of them she recognized as governor's and commissioners , mayor's and deputy's. She was merely a doctor, who was lucky to get involved with a billionaire.

"Stop thinking" Xavier whispered very close to her ears as he looked at her face, the whole place was dark and only the light on the stage was on.

"Who says I'm thinking?" Abigail asked back and cleared her throat, she needed water and so she reached her hand out to grab a glass but Xavier stopped her.

"I'm thirsty" Abigail replied again softly as she tried to reach her other hand out but Xavier took the opportunity and held the two together in his grasps.

"Have you forgotten?" Xavier asked as he looked at her coldly, his voice sending the chills down her spine. "You have been poisoned before, don't forget that" Xavier warned strictly as he looked at her.

"Then how am I suppose to get water" Abigail spoke with her voise sounding haorse, she really was thirsty and she needed water right this instant. "Did you forget the fact that I'm pregnant, since you fear that I might get poisoned then why didn't you just carry a bottle of water from the mansion. I can't stay for the next five minutes without my tongues getting moist, I need water...."

Smack....

Xavier had gotten tired to hear her ranting, he knew the way to shut her up and that was just what he did, he kissed her hard, sucking her lips simultaneously before finally parting them with his tongue as he played tag with hers. 

The fact that she answered to his kisses surprised him and it made him kiss her harder as he pressed his lips against hers, he placed his hand on the side of her neck as he pulled her in closer. All the sounds outside were of no concern to him right now, he just couldn't get himself to break out from the kiss.

Abigail kissed him back without restraint, it seemed like her body was also hungry for a kiss or maybe it was the thirst for anything moist. She didn't know what it was but one thing for sure was that she enjoyed her kiss with him, she couldn't bring herself to stop, infact she didn't even want to. She wished she could free her hands and pull him closer but she couldn't, Xavier's tight grip was like a barrier preventing her from experiencing full pleasure.

It was like fireworks exploading and they could hear the sound loud and clearbut when they listened clearly they realized that it was the sound of the people cheering.

Xavier pulled away slowly and gently wiped the stain of lip stick from his lips, he could see the flushed look on Abigail's face and he couldn't be more contented with himself. Now he knew she wouldn't be able to start ranting anymore.

He knew that this action of his had got the attention of everyone at this event, he could tell because the spotlight was on both of them of right now. But Xavier didn't mind the publicity, infact that was the reason why he came right? To announce his marriage with Abigail.

"Mr Quinn I see you are enjoying your evening" The MC spoke that got many laughing, but one look from Xavier was enough to kill the laughter.

"If you please Mr Quinn" One of the MC said urging him to come to the stage.

Abigail still felt confused with everything, she had to look down the entire time, if she had known that they would get this much attention then she would have pushed him away. She couldn't believe how she let him kiss her like that in public, her cheeks kept burning red as she tried not to look at anyone in the room even though all eyes were on her.

"Let's go" Xavier said as he let go of her hands and when they both got up again, he held her wrist as they walked to the stage. Every table they passed had their eyes on her, mostly the females, it's like she had stolen thier prince charming from them. Abigail didn't want to miss this opportunity and so she raised her head high as she held Xavier's arm and placed her head there to rest. She saw the jealousy burn in their eyes and this had satisfied Abigail very much.

"Hmmmm" Abigail hummed in delight as she walked passed them.

"Enjoying yourself too much I see" Xavier commented when he noticed what Abigail did, he knew she was clinging to him on purpose to make the other girls jealous. It was a sly move from her part but sure he would play along, after all they wanted the public to know that they were together so this little action if her's, he would accept.

"just having a little fun" Abigail answered like a child that was caught doing something wrong, she blinked her eyes at him cutely before she turned away. 

When they arrived at the stage, Abigail could barely stand, her knees were getting weak and she was beginning to sweat, now she could see the number of people present in the event. They were up to a thousand if not more than, and they all had their eyes on her waiting for her to say something so they can point out a mistake.

Xavier seemed to have noticed this and so he placed his hands around her waist and pulled her closer to himself, he wasn't going to let her talk, he would do all the talking. 

With a tired sigh, Abigail wished this would be over so they can return back to their seats, as she looked around the crowd, she noticed Jeffery sitting at another end with a lady by his side. Jeffery winked at her and blowed her a kiss but the other lady on the other hand kept throwing daggers at her.
