Hidden Agendas

His arrival in Fell's Church went as planned. He knew that Zander would recognize him by scent even if he couldn't recognize the face. It was honeysuckle and rose with a dash of a petrichor. It was a rare combination but he was satisfied with it. Women had often commented on the feminine undertone to his male scent. Not many complained, especially not after he had his way with them. Elena seemed eager for him to have his way with her. Conspicuously the legendary Demos was absent from the welcoming committee. There was a knock on the door and the evergreen Mrs Flowers stepped in. She was in spirit now but that did not allow her to leave the lodge to the people who were supposed to take over. As it is Stefan and Elena were no longer together.

"It is good to see you, Dannie. Your mother contacted me about your arrival. Elena needs you. Her sobs are getting hard to ignore." Mrs Flowers shook her head as she stated. The translucent figure before Dannie did not scare him.

"You know that I have an ulterior motive to be here and it doesn't involve the well being of a woman who did not choose the man who loved her," Dannie explained.

"You shouldn't say something like that about a spirit," the spectre warned.

"The ghost of Elena Gilbert dare not harm me. Otherwise, she would easily cease to exist. You forget that my father is a demon. There is little that I am incapable of," he threatened back.

"What about the body of Elena Gilbert? What do you make of her?" the spectre asked in a conspiratory tone.

"She will be a delicious prey," Dannie replied with an evil smirk.

"She is immortal poison," the spirit reminded.

"I do not intend to feed on her blood, Mrs Flowers. Being what I am, my appetite sometimes gets the better of me. You just wait and watch," he chuckled and the spectre evaporated before there was a knock on the door.

"You must be our new tennant", the middle age balding man with a missing front tooth spoke.

" And you are Mr. Brooke", Dannie spoke with distaste evident on his face.

"Oh, how did you find out?" the man asked, perplexed.

"My mother is a close friend of the deceased owner," Dannie said with a straight face. It was a common knowledge in town that Mrs. Flowers was a witch. Mr Brook displayed his knowledge of the fact by the evidence of cold sweat on his forehead.

"You are one of them? You are a supernatural?" He asked in trepidation.

"No, I am not. I am worse." Daniel declared, releasing his fangs and sinking them in his neck.

"The lodge is all yours now," he told the spirit that materialised.

"There was no need for that," she chided him.

"Yes there was. I was hungry," he replied, wiping the blood from his face.

"Did you have to kill him?" she asked.

"Don't you know what I am? I don't feed on blood. I feed on souls. I could feed on you. But where's the fun in that?" Dannie said with an evil smirk and the translucent spectre visibly shuddered.
