Chapter 47 - Experimenting with the Astral Energy Pulse

The next step was to increase the casting speed and try to work out how to get the Astral Energy Pulse was to send him the distance between what it picked up and him. However, Amelia was able to block and rebound the Astral Energy earlier. He wanted to know how she was able to do it before he continued to practice. Jamie walked towards Blackwing, and leaned down to rub his neck. Blackwing closed his eyes in contentment as Jamie sent a mental message to Blackwing.

"Thanks you for your help Blackwing."

Blackwing let out a low roar, close to a purr. Jamie was crouched there for five minutes, rubbing Blackwing's neck, before walking his way towards the back of the truck, Blackwing following behind him. As he closed in on the back of the truck, Eve's ears twitched.

When he reached his blue foldable chair, Blackwing walked up to Eve, sniffing her face, before licking her. Eve growled, and snapped at Blackwing, who wilted, backing away. Jamie took a deep breath, looking towards Amelia, who was still sitting in a light blue foldable chair, reading from her book, and started walking towards her.

After he took a few steps forwards, Amelia looked up from her book, watching him approach with a blank face. Jamie gave her a smile.

"Umm, hello. I was wondering, how you were able to block the Astral Energy Pulse."

Amelia observed Jamie for a moment, then shrugged. "Human Martial Warriors at stage 7 and above, after our first evolution, can use our energies more flexibly."

Amelia held up her hand, and a light blue energy gathered in her hand. The temperature in the area started to drop, before a block of ice started to form in her hand, forming a large shard. After keeping it there for a second, the ice started to dissipate.

"A part of the process of being able to use the energies more flexible, is to be able to increase our sensitivity towards energies, along with other upgrades we get to our senses, like our hearing and sensitivity to smells.. As for being able to block your energy, well, I coated myself in a barrier of Earthen Energy and Essence Energy."

"umm.....any idea on how I would be able to use the Astral Energy Pulse without being unnoticed?"

Amelia gave Jamie a hard look. Jamie gulped nervously, keeping eye contact before Amelia eventually answered. "Use less Energy. Try alter the energy signature to be in tune with that of the environment. Energy Purity helps with both."

"Thanks."

Amelia looked towards her left, and her eyes narrowed, and her noise wrinkled. Jamie noted the movement, and looked in the same direction, seeing nothing. Jamie turned around, and started walking towards the fawn.

Noticing that it wasn't trembling at the sight of him, Jamie walked forward. He opened the black container, grabbing a Air Energy Affinity Food Stick, and grabbing the nipple bottle, and stepping into the Earthen Rock Pen. He held out the Air Energy Affinity stick, and the fawn walked up to him slowly, and started chewing on the stick while Jamie held it. When the fawn was done, he started held the bottle with it's nipple facing towards the fawn, facing it towards the fawn. The fawn sniffed it cautiously, and Jamie squirted it very lightly, causing a small fraction of milk to squirt out. The fawn's nose twitched, before it grabbed onto the nipple of the bottle, and started sucking the milk.

Just as the fawn had finished the milk, the faint sound of growling and whimpering reached his ears. Jamie looked up, towards the noise, in the direction Amelia was looking at previously. He could see Nicholas, Ivan and Emily walking towards out of the forest, holding holding two wolf cubs, one in each arm, and they were whimpering. The cub's were brown with white flakes, with a red tip on their tails. Emily's long sleeved grey shirt had a large gash on it and her right arm was covered in dried blood, along with her jeans.

Jamie stayed with the fawn, sending his thought to Ivan. "I have a Yellow Scale Deer fawn with me."

Ivan paused for a moment. "Got it."

Jamie then sent a thought Emily. "I can have Eve heal you if your wounds haven't healed already."

"That would be helpful, thanks. Most of the blood is from the Red Tipped Wolves though."

"What happened?"

Emily shuddered. "They lashed out at me, and Nicholas killed them. I didn't even get to see him move before they were all killed. We captured their cubs afterwards."

As the yellow suns were setting, Ivan, Jamie, Emily, Amelia, Nicholas, and Lennox were sitting around a fire, eating some Roasted Red Tipped Wolves meat, from the corpses of the beast Nicholas had killed. Lennox had come back alone thirty minutes after Ivan and Emily had returned. The male Fawn was lying in the pen, asleep, while Ivan's Black Horn Wolf was looking after the four Red Tipped Wolf Cubs near the second truck on the left side, with Eve, Blackwing, and Scott.

"We should stay for one more day. Try to find a Yellow Scale Deer female. Preferably a second fawn."

Ivan sighed. "Lennox, we already have two more stops planned. It's already going to take us over two weeks to get to Ragas."

"It's just one more day. If we can find a female, we can have a breeding pair."

"Let's see what Taylor can find first."

"Fine. But if we can't, we should linger for another day. Were not likely to find anything worthwhile at Ragas anyway."

".....Fine. But if Taylor has a female Yellow Scale Deer, we drive to the next stop. "It will take five days to reach the next destination."

"The fawn you managed to tame looks soooo cute."

"The Red Tipped Wolves look good too. Especially when they grow up."

Emily winced. "They almost killed me with a swipe of their claws. Thankfully, Nicholas was nearby."

Jamie shrugged. "It's part of our profession. Couldn't Scott interfere in time?"

"I kept Scott behind me. I thought that he would scare them if I kept him closer."

Silence fell between them, with Jamie thinking about his taming experience as he ate. He broke the silence after thinking about his taming experience for a moment. "I got lucky. The fawn was more likely to run from me, then bite me. And it was also a starved baby. It took me much longer to tame Blackwing."

"The Red Tipped Wolves looked like they had eaten recently, as their was blood on their fur. However, they were still thin. They must have been starved before they stumbled upon whatever they had killed, but it wasn't enough."

"Did they pounce on you immediately?"

"No, there was no problems at first. I coaxed them in at first, and slowly coaxed them in with food. However, when I went to grab more food when what was in my hands was empty, one of the wolves pounced at me. I pulled my arm back by reflex, and after I blinked, Nicholas had killed them all with that massive sword of his, my arm was bleeding, and one of their heads was in my lap. That was a gruesome experience that I don't want to repeat again."

Silence fell between them as they ate. Eventually Jamie looked at his empty plate, noting that Emily still had two meet slices on hers. "I'm going to to wash my plate and use the shower now."

"Okay. I want to take a shower after eating this."

Jamie stood up, heading towards the Earthen Rock Pen, heading towards the two rectangular holes that were together, filled with clear water. He washed his plate, then walked back, placing it on his chair.

He went to the open third carriage, looking through his bag, to grab a fresh pair of clothes, a pair of black slippers, and a brown towel, taking off his black shoes and socks, leaving it on the ground near the trailer and replacing them with slippers.

He then headed towards the side of the second carriage on the right, where three massive rocks walls were set up, three feet tall, covering the sides and and back. At the front, a blue shower curtain blocking the front, and a shower bag sitting at the front on a flat, high, grey rock. Jamie sighed, looking at the shower bag, wishing he could use a proper shower. He placed his clothes and slippers on the rock, while picking up the shower bag and bringing in his towel, heading into the makeshift shower.

Four minutes later, he headed back towards the group. Jamie dug into his travel bag, grabbing a plastic bag, and putting his socks, and dirty clothes in it. He then tied up the bag tightly, putting it back into his bag.

As he approached the group, he spotted Taylor standing around the group, holding a Yellow Scale Deer Fawn in her arms.

"I found it alone near a dense cluster of woods. It's female."
