The Batman

As Bruce sleeps, Alfred turns on an alarm that wakes him up.

"Bats are nocturnal." Bruce groans.

"Bats may be, but even for millionaire playboys three o'clock is pushing it. Price for living a double life I'm afraid." Alfred says.

Bruce slowly sits up with bruises on his shoulder, chest, and his left side.

"If those are to be the first of many injuries to come, it would be wise to find a suitable excuse. Polo, for instance."

Bruce chuckles.

"How is a blind man going to play polo?" Bruce asks.

"Strange injuries and none existent social life. These things beg the question as to what exactly does the blind Bruce Wayne do with his time and his money." Alfred says.

Bruce stands up to his feet, knees and joints cracking with each movement, and drinks water that Alfred brought him.

"What does someone like me do?" Bruce asks, dropping to the ground and doing push ups.

"Date movie stars, go to parties, buy things that aren't for sale. Who knows, master Wayne, you start pretending to have fun, you might actually have some."

Bruce chuckles, as he hears a news report about a man named Carmine Falcone, a well known crime boss, is talked about on the news, speaking about how he yet again avoided the law. He also hears the Name Jim Gordon, causing him to think all the way back to the night his father died. Jim, just a regular police officer at that point, comforted him by putting his father's jacket around him.

"It's ok." Jim says with a smile.

Back to present day, Bruce thinks about his next move as Gothams protector.

"You know, Alfred... I think I should get some fresh air tonight." Bruce says.

That night, as Jim Gordon walks into his office and sits at his desk the lights suddenly turn off, surprising Gordon.

"Don't turn around." A voice says.

Jim is stunned by this, shocked by this deep and mysterious voice.

"What do you want? To threaten me? intimidate me?"

"You're a good cop. One of the few." The voice replies.

"I asked you a question."

"Carmine Falcon brings in shipments of drugs every week. Nobody takes him down. Why?"

"He's paid up with the right people."

"What will it take to bring him down, tonight?"

The Commissioner is surprised by the question.

"Leverage on Judge Faden. And a DA brave enough to prosecute."

"Do you have one in mind?"

Gordon thinks for a moment.

"Dent. Harvey Dent. He's one of the good ones."

"I hope so." The mystery man says.

"Who are you?" Gordon finally asks.

The shadowy figure doesn't say anything for a moment.

"Watch for my sign."

Jim is confused by this.

"Your what?... Hello?"

When George turns around, he sees that he's all alone in the dark room and sighs.

"What the hell just happened?" He asks himself.

Later that night, A group of men move boxes of drugs into a truck while Carmine Falcon is watching.

"Come on boys, get the lead out. I ain't trying to be with you bums all night." Carmine says.

At that moment, when one of his men walks off to get another box, he is pulled into the darkness. Everyone stops what they're doing and looks around, hearing a loud noise.

"The hell? Hey, go check that out." Carmine orders.

Two men slowly walks through the area where the noise came from, cautious of what could have made it. The man infront sees a flashlight on the ground and goes to pick it up. At that moment something wraps around his ankles and takes him up in the air while he screams. The second man, sees this and quickly runs away and back to the group of men.

"Hey, there's someone or something out there boss, I don't know who or what, b-b-but they took Mikey, and I'm pretty sure they took Frank too."

Carmine is confused by this.

"Aye, don't piss yourself, alright. Just calm the hell down."

At that moment, Bruce(wearing his bat suit) drops down in the middle of the group of men, shocking them all. After Bruce starts dropping a few of the thugs with quick strikes, Carmine quickly starts running away from the action. The group of men all charge at the masked man. Bruce quickly kicks two men in the face and chest, knocking them to the ground. Another man runs in, after them, but gets easily knocked out with a single punch to the face. Bruce dodges a punch from another thug, chops him in the throat, then grabs him by the wrist, twists his arm and flips him to the ground, landing on top of him. As he's on the ground, Peter sweeps another guy's legs from under him and quickly kips up to his feet. The man tries to land a kick while on his back, but Peter catches his leg and breaks it. One by one, Bruce easily takes down the thugs, not getting hit once. While Bruce is distracted with the fighting, one of the men aims a gun at his back. Bruce hears the loading of the gun, and before he could shoot Bruce quickly throws a sharp shuriken that's in the shape of a bat, easily disarming him then knocking him out with a jumping roundhouse kick. While that's happening, Carmine makes it to his car with a gun in his hand. He waits for either his driver to show up and get him out of here, or for the mask man to show up so he can shoot him, his body trembling out of fear.

"What the hell are you?"

At that moment, Bruce punches out the sun roof and grabs Carmine from the car.

"I'm Batman."

As fear is seen through Carmine's eyes, Bruce knocks him out with a headbutt. He then looks over and sees a kid watching with his mouth wide open. Bruce smirks, shoots out a grapple line and goes up into the sky.

A few minutes later, as police officers surround the docks, detective Jim Gordon arrives on the scene. He then sees the group of beaten up men with handcuffs on.

"Falcone's men?" Jim asks the cop beside him.

"Does it matter? We'll never tie him to it anyway." The cop replies.

The two men then looks over, surprised at what they're looking at.

"I wouldn't be too sure about that."

They quickly walk over to Falcone, tied up to a giant light, with his mouth taped. Jim then looks up at the sky and sees what resembles a bat in the sky.

"Watch for my sign." Jim repeats to himself.

Gordon can hardly believe it, looking around for the stranger who snuck into his office earlier in the night. He then tells the other cops to take Falcone and his goons away.

Meanwhile, as Harvey Dent is leaving his house, he is shocked and stunned by red eyes looking at him through the shadows.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Dent asks.

Bruce then throws down incriminating pictures of Judge Faden.

"What's this?" Harvey asks.

"Leverage. To get things moving." Batman says.

Harvey picks up the pictures and looks at them. When he looks back up, Batman is gone.

The next morning at GCPD, Commissioner Loeb, holds up a newspaper about The "Bat out of Hell" taking down a notorious crime boss.

"This is unacceptable. Now, I don't care if it's rival gangs, Guardian Angels, or the great lord himself. Get them off the street, and off the front page." Loeb orders.

"They say it was just one guy." A cop says.

"Or maybe it is the Devil." Another cop suggests.

This angers Loeb.

"It's just some idiot in a costume."

"To be fair. This guy did deliver us one of the city's biggest crime lords." Jim Gordon says.

Everyone turns to Gordon as a silence falls over the room.

"No one takes the law into their own hands in my city." The Commissioner replies.

While that's happening, a man with glasses and a suit sits in the back of a limo with his mysterious employer, discussing Falcone's arrest.

"Who is he?" The mysterious figure asks.

The man with glasses stays silent for a moment.

"I don't know- yet. Some people have called him Vengeance, others have called him the devil. However Carmine says that he goes by Batman. I believe he even gave the DA Harvey Dent the leverage on Faden."

The mysterious figure thinks for a moment.

"Whoever this... Vigilante is. He needs to be dealt with. Quickly, before he causes us anymore problems."

"Yes sir. What about Falcone?"

"He has clearly outweighed his usefulness. I want him taken care of."

The man with glasses nods, understanding his orders.

That night, Carmine Falcone is found dead in his jail cell, seemingly hanging himself.
