Qiang sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the letter in his hand. It was a summons from the Governor of Ironedge, Edgar, ordering him to join an army and fight beyond the protection talismans. He was a fool if he thought he could win a war against the wolves. 

Not only had they outcast his son for being different and loving men; they wanted him to fight for them too?

Since the beginning of his existence, he learned a fathers duty was to protect their child, be the foundation of a home, and now that he failed Yuè, there was nothing left in Ironedge he wished to protect.

After he left their homeland, LànWeī, he'd become too old for war, too frail and weak. He had already lost Yuè's mother and there wasn't a guarantee his son was still alive. He had nothing left to live for, except his honor and his son if he was still alive.
