Azure Moon

What defines MMORPG? Escaping reality? Realistic graphics? Excitement? Or Is it raiding dangerous dungeons to take down the strongest bosses there, or is it facing off against other players to climb the mountain to become the strongest player? Some would say MMORPGS is about crafting the strongest and most exotic equipment there was or is all about climbing the market to become the richest player there ever was. This will however remain unknown for a young man who had his life cut short by an incoming truck, with everything lost how would his story unfold? -------------- Note: The story begins with my own world that is heavily inspired by another creation, most characters belonging to it are OC. Warning: I will be releasing chapters at my own rate, it could take weeks for a single chapter to be released. You have been warned.

System

[Apex Predator: Devour

Allows the host to turn a corpse into xp, the amount depending on the creature's strength.]

Black stared at the card stunned, when he checked to see if any of the rabbits had seen the card he saw they were still feasting on the bear, oblivious to what was going on.

'Do I have a system?'

Assuming he had a system was the only thing for him to do in this situation, especially so after the number of stories he read.

So, to test his theory he called out within. 'Status.'

'So I do have a system..but why is there a mutated tag next to my race?' Black asked himself.

As if responding to his question a purple window appeared.

[Answer:

Mutations are an extremely rare event when a being is born with strength far beyond its non-mutated counterpart.

Due to this, they are usually treated like royalty by their own race and shown high respect by others because of how strong and valued they are.

They can often be differentiated from their non-mutated counterparts by their unique features such as eyes, color, marks, etc.

Currently, the host is a mutated despair rabbit, a species that specializes in speed and insanity.]

'So that's it.' Thought Black, turning his head towards the titles.

'What about these?'

Instead of another window appearing, the current one disappeared and 3 cards took its place.

The card containing Child of Voice of the Abyss was dark purple with an aura of darkness around it, the dark song of a woman singing an opera to praise its arrival.

The card holding Horror of the Depths was a white card with nothing special about it, while the one containing Celeritas was red and gold.

The red and gold card which held Celitaras made an audible ding sound to announce its presence, radiating music notes that danced around it.

After looking at them, Black decided to read Child of the Abyss first.

[Child of Voice of the Abyss:

"Who knew the abyss would go to such lengths?.."

Being the first and last child of the abyss, the host has a higher resistance to all mental attacks and is unable to die from natural causes such as aging and illnesses.]

'Wait doesn't this mean I'm immortal? No forget that, who is the abyss? Is that who that voice belonged to?' Black asked himself, with his previous experience he wasn't expecting much from his new so called mother.

He loved his mother, who wouldn't? She spoiled the living hell out of him no matter how much his father persisted, to him no one can replace her role in his heart.

The same couldn't be said for his adoptive mother, she was a two faced bitch if he had to describe her.

She played the role of a good mother and wife while guests were around and out in public but would become an absolute bitch when they were alone.

Releasing a small sigh within, Black shook his head to get rid of such thoughts and turned towards the second card, Horror of the Depths.

[Horror of the Depths:

Being a monster born within the Depths the host is physically stronger inside of the Depths and weaker outside of it.]

'So this place is called the depths, good to know.' Thought Black, turning to the last card, Celitaras.

[Celitaras:

An innate ability of the host's species. Due to the host being mutated the ability within this title has mutated as well allowing the host to move faster in shadows and dark areas.]

Black became satisfied with this card, but noticing the clear difference between them he assumed there was some kind of ranking or rarity.

'System, what's the difference between the cards?' Asked Black, causing the cards to disappear and a window to take their place.

[Answer:

As the host may have noticed there is a clear difference between cards.

White cards are common, red and gold are rare, sea green cards are legendary, and lastly, dark purple cards are mythical. The rarer the card the more useful it is.

The luck percentage in the hosts' stats increases the chances of getting a good card. Luck can only be increased through defeating foes with equal strength or that of even greater than the host.]

'So luck is important..' Black thought.

[Affirmative.]

Having an understanding of his titles and cards, he looked back over to his status.

Though it was fairly obvious which stat did what, he was still interested.

Without him having to ask, the system pulled up a window containing every stat and its description.

'Ah, so what I was expecting but a bit more to it..why is there xp for stats?" Black asked after reading the window.

[Answer:

The host's way of progression is different compared to others, the normal xp bar or notifier has been replaced.

Instead of earning xp directly, the xp earned from killing beings will build up inside of the host until he trains or does something that would revolve around a certain stat.

When this happens an investment point then would be distributed to said stat the host is trying to improve.

Example: If the host did something that required strength or improved it, the xp that built up in his body would be transformed into strength xp.

This has numerous boons but many flaws, but those boons outnumber the flaws. Simply put, the host will be able to progress much faster than what he is accustomed to.]

'That makes sense I suppose.' Thought Black.

Turning to the last 4 stats he called out to the system. 'What about these?'

'I guess that's all for now.' Thought Black, closing the system windows with just a thought before looking around him.

The corpse of the bear was nothing but a pile of bones now. The rabbits that once feasted were bowing to him as if waiting for his command.

Black couldn't help releasing a sigh but after a moment of thought, he accepted his role. 'I accept my role as their king.' Thought Black.

The moment Black accepted becoming their king his eyes glowed purple. A black crown appeared atop his head, the crown had dark purple gems embedded into it and the arches of it were shaped like a cross.

Along with the crown's arrival came two sea green cards with music notes carved into them.
