Azure Moon

What defines MMORPG? Escaping reality? Realistic graphics? Excitement? Or Is it raiding dangerous dungeons to take down the strongest bosses there, or is it facing off against other players to climb the mountain to become the strongest player? Some would say MMORPGS is about crafting the strongest and most exotic equipment there was or is all about climbing the market to become the richest player there ever was. This will however remain unknown for a young man who had his life cut short by an incoming truck, with everything lost how would his story unfold? -------------- Note: The story begins with my own world that is heavily inspired by another creation, most characters belonging to it are OC. Warning: I will be releasing chapters at my own rate, it could take weeks for a single chapter to be released. You have been warned.

[Title rewarded: The King of Despair!

Becoming the king of the despair rabbits, the host has been empowered. (+5 points in all physical stats.)]

[Ability Unlocked!]

[Aura of the Despair King:

"Despair for me?"

Combining the despair rabbits' innate ability and the aura of a king, the host is granted the ability to pressure beings with lower willpower causing them to despair.]

'Looks like becoming their king was worth it..tell me, what happened?' Thought Black.

[Answer:

The host has just experienced the Birth of a Monarch.]

'Birth of a Monarch?' Black asked.

[Birth of a Monarch:

An event that happens when a monster species has nominated a being of their race as their monarch.

Said being will undergo a transformation making them the King or Queen of their entire species. This would also boost the species' potential of growth.]

'I see.' Black thought, looking at the rabbits bowing to him.

He didn't really know what to do with them for now, so he shifted his gaze towards the cave's entrance while making the crown atop his head after just a thought.

'Looks like that worked, now all I need to do is get to leveling.'

With the thought of leveling on his mind, Black hopped down from the rock he was on and moved towards the cave's entrance.

The rabbits hurriedly followed after him causing Black to look back at them. However, after a glance, he decided to ignore them.

Exiting the cave, Black was greeted by the sight of coral as tall as trees and a sandy ground with weeds growing out of it. Up above there was an opening in the sky giving light to the world.

'The name depths really fit this place.' Thought Black.

After looking around, Black started walking in a random direction with no idea of where he was going, the rabbits following behind.

Eventually, they came across a cave with a bear inside which resembled the one they had eaten from before but smaller.

Now that the bear wasn't rotting, Black was able to get a better look.

The bear was blue with barnacles covering its back almost resembling a turtle's shell, scales covering its body.

'Observation.'

[Depths Bear: Level 3]

'Oh that worked.' Black thought, smiling a bit inside.

The rabbits who were following behind stopped in their tracks upon noticing the bear, their instincts yelling for them to not take another step.

Black didn't blame them, just like them his instincts were warning him.

But unlike them, Black took a step forward, looking at the bear with a glint in his eyes.

Though the bear was 2 levels above him he was confident, especially so with the experiences he gained from his previous life.

Watching their king prepare for battle, the rabbits threw away their fear and put their faith in him.

Without a moment longer, Black dashed towards the bear. When he arrived in front of it the bear's eyes shot open, but by then it was too late.

-Crack!

Black delivered a quick kick towards the bear's jaw, surprisingly breaking it and putting the bear in a daze.

Noticing the bear's dazed state, the rabbits behind Black quickly took advantage of the moment.

Instead of kicking, they tackled the bear and began eating the bear alive causing blood to spill from its wounds.

The rabbits looked like hungry beasts willing to go to any extent for their meal, as if telling him it was kill or be killed, something he was familiar with.

The bear roared and thrashed around in an attempt to get the bloodthirsty rabbits off of it, while the rabbits took its attention Black waited for an opening.

He didn't have to wait long, the bear stood on its hind legs and attempted to claw the rabbits off of it.

Having his chance, Black rushed in, hopping into the air with his legs going for the bear's throat.

-Crack!

Another crack resounded through the room, Black had crushed the bear's throat causing it to stiffen and fall face first onto the floor barely breathing.

The rabbits let themselves fall off of the bear's body then walked to Black's side who was giving the bear the final blow.

Black sent out another kick at the bear's neck, ending the battle with one last crack that resounded through the cave.

The moment the bear died, Black felt something warm build in the center of his body. Having a good idea of what it was, he began kicking the bear's body repeatedly, confusing the rabbits.

[Strength Increased!]

[Strength Increased!]

[Strength In..]

Watching as his strength increased he couldn't help but feel excited. When the 5th kick landed he felt a surge of energy travel through his body, ridding his body of its exhaustion.

[Level Increased!]

Along with the notifications appearance were two white cards that remained in place as if telling him to pick one.

[Heavy Lifting:

"Lift!"

Allows the host to carry the heaviest of items even in his most critical state.]

[Critical Hit:

"Oh baby, a critical!"

The host will do more damage when hitting places considered a critical area. Such as the head, neck, the heart, etc (Observation Upgrade.)]

After Reading the cards, Black chose Critical Hit; he believed it would be more beneficial in the long run, and he was also interested in the upgrade.

Heavy lifting flipped over and the two cards disappeared.

Suddenly, Black's vision flashed purple and a dark purple card with a shadowy aura around it appeared, the dark song of a woman opera singer announcing its presence.

[All Seeing Eyes of God:

"The observer of god."

The host's visual senses are heightened to the extreme, Observation is now activated passively without exerting the host, the host is immune to illusions.]

'Wasn't this just supposed to be a common card?' Thought Black.

Either way, he wasn't going to complain about getting a good card.

Making the card and windows disappear, Black shifted his gaze over to the bear's corpse and noticed there was now a chest by it.

From how the rabbits were looking at him unfazed he assumed he was the only one who saw it.

Making his way towards it, Black he couldn't help questioning where it came from.

[Answer:

Whenever the host slays an enemy, he will be rewarded with a chest containing various items inside. Ranging from skills, wealth, weapons, etc. The greater the enemy's strength the greater the reward.]

'I see.'

Opening the chest. Black found an iron greatsword, a dagger, some gold, and a few jewels inside.

'This is pretty nice.' Black thought attempting to pick up the greatsword but his paws made it difficult.

'System, do I have an inventory?'

[Affirmative.]

Seeing the system answer him, Black stored everything inside the chest into his inventory. The moment he did so the chest vanished into thin air.

Black then took the greatsword back out and looked at his reflection. And as he thought, he was a black rabbit yet his eyes weren't what he expected.

They were bright purple with an alien/machinal appearance. "Were they always like this?'

[Answer:

Due to the host obtaining All Seeing Eyes of God, the host eyes are no longer the same but an artifact, however if the host wished he could change their appearance.]

'Got it.'

Black turned towards the bear's corpse, opening his mouth he attempted to use one of his skills. 'Devour'

To Black's call, a void formed in front of mouth and sucked the bear inside in an instant. With the bear devoured, Black felt something build up in the center of his body like before but it was much smaller.

Feeling it wasn't enough, Black stored the greatsword and left the cave with the stunned rabbits in tow, deciding he'd at least reach level 5 before returning back to the cave.

Continuing his hunt, Black and his rabbits managed to kill 2 more bears from different caves. Once he had reached level 4 he sent his rabbits back with some corpses to eat.

The only downside from the hunt was the fact they had lost 3 rabbits during the entirety of the trip. Black knew no world was without its sacrifices but he couldn't help feeling slightly disappointed with their death.

Gazing at what should be the last cave for the day, Black made the cards he gained from his previous level ups appear.

[Quick Recovery:

"You feel as if you could recover faster."

Allows the host to recover faster after climbing any surface, gaining a speed boost.]

[Graceful Landing:

"You feel you could brush off shorter falls."

Allows the host to be able to recover faster from shorter falls, gaining a speed boost upon falling from any height.]

Black wanted to work on his agility after his first level up. Strength was already one of his highest stats but remembering his innate ability, Celeritas, he chose to focus on agility.

He had no problems with his decision, he was always an agility main whenever he had the option.

Making the cards disappear, he walked inside the cave to be greeted by two bears bigger than the previous ones he fought, one being female and the other male.

[Depths Bear: Level 5]

[Depths Bear: Level 6]

'This one may take longer than usual..' Black thought, taking a stance he dashed inside towards the bigger bear.

He believed if he dealt with the strongest first then the weaker one would lose its confidence to fight.

Like before he aimed for the jaw. However, the moment his attack was about to land a paw abruptly intercepted him then pushed him up into the air.

Black looked down from above to see the female bear glaring up at him. Black ignored her and landed on the ground gracefully, feeling faster the moment he did so.

He had a target in mind and he wasn't about to let it go. With the speed boost activated, he dashed past the female and threw out another kick to the male who was just preparing himself.

The kick landed, and the bear was sent flying to the back of the cave while Black quickly hopped to the right dodging a claw attack.

Turning to face the female bear, he hopped towards her and landed a direct hit on her neck causing a loud crunch to resound through the cave.

Black jumped off the bear's throat while dodging another attack midair that came from the bear who was just returning. His eyes bloodshot from the death of his mate.

When Black touched the ground he was hit by another speed boost. He was just about to launch himself forward, but the bear quickly arrived in front of him, throwing its claws out.

Instead of moving out of the way, Black used his size and agility to his advantage and jumped onto the bear's arm then ran up it.

The bear blinded by rage opened his maw then shot toward Black. Right when he was about to bite down, Black jumped out of the way.

The bear's teeth sank into its own flesh causing blood to spill out onto the cave's floor.

Roaring in pain, the bear pulled its teeth out of its arm and turned to Black, but by that time it was already too late.

Black delivered a swift kick towards the bear's neck just like the last one causing a crack to resound through the cave.

The bear fell to the ground, panting heavily Black lifted his right leg then brought it down onto the bear's neck causing all life from the bear's eyes to vanish, ending the battle.

Black's body was instantly flooded with xp he gained from the two bears, wanting to take advantage of this, he began bouncing all over the walls like a small ball.

[Agility Increased!]

[Agility Increased!

[Agility..]

[Level Increased!]

Black felt a surge of energy travel through his body, putting him back into perfect condition. Yet, the moment it washed over he fell to the ground groaning.

The sound of bones snapping and popping began to resound through the cave. While Black felt his bones being stretched, a shadow shrouded his body.

After what felt like an hour the sound of bones popping ceased to exist. The only thing being heard from within being the heavy breathing of Black.

The shadows that covered Black were sucked into his body, calming him down.

[Evolution Complete.]

[Host has evolved into a Cursed Shadow Rabbit. (+10 in all physical stats)]

Black stared at the notification in front of him with tired eyes. 'So that was it, that fucking hurt.'

Black released a small groan then attempted to get up, almost instantly noticing the changes. His legs were longer like that of a bipedal creature.

Using the cave's wall as a support to stand up, he walked through the cave clumsily. When he was able to somewhat walk normally he summoned the greatsword from out of his inventory then stabbed it into the ground.

He looked at his reflection and couldn't help feeling his change was big but small at the same time.

He looked the same as before except his black fur became darker than the famed Vantablack, seeming to absorb light from his surroundings.

He was as tall as a toddler and his arms were almost reaching his knees.

[Would the host like to see the cards obtained from leveling up?]

'Yes.'

Black put the greatsword away and moved towards the chests next to the bear's corpses.

[Scaredy Cat:

"Your legs yell for you to run."

Whenever someone initiates a fight the host will gain a speed boost.]

[Swift Rebound:

"Dodge! Dodge! Dodge!"

The host gains a speed boost after every successful dodge.]

Taking a small glance, Black went with Swift Rebound. He felt he'd do more dodging than running so scaredy cat would be somewhat useless for him currently.

Opening the chests, he found an iron broadsword and some gold in the first one and a wooden bow with jewels in the other.

He stored them in his inventory and walked outside the cave. After a moment of sniffing the air, he began moving south
