Plans and Threats
"Suddenly evolved huh?"
"Yeah… Acnologia wasn't thrilled to see a beast which had started killing humans. After all, during that time, Acnologia didn't really wish to destroy humans."
"Huh… What? Acnologia didn't wish to destroy humans, but now he does? What changed?"
"That's a story for another time, but I guess his beastial instincts took over. Anyway, how old is this Godbeast?"
Shun thought for some time before he replied while shrugging his shoulders, "I think it hatched around 4 years ago."
"Heh… You still have a year then."
"A year until it evolves into the true Beast of Calamity?" Shun asked while narrowing his eyes.
"Yes."
Grandeeney remained quiet as she continued to observe the two of them as they talked to each other.
Wilson stood next to her, they both looked at each other, both wondering how they could talk about this topic so casually.
About Zeref, she could understand. He was an immortal who wouldn't blink an eye if Humanity got exterminated, either by Acnologia or by the Godbeast. The fact remained they still wouldn't be able to end his cursed existence.
As for Shun, he seemed amused by this news. He looked like he wished to have this Beast of Calamity for himself. She wasn't wrong in that aspect, but that was just a start for Shun.
The fact that this Godbeast was created by gods, and it appeared out of thin air made him curious about its connection with the God Realm.
They weren't in Earthland. However, he felt like they also weren't far away if they could send an egg to Earthland.
They observed both this place known as Edolas and Earthland and chose the structure of a beast which would simplify the creation of their own godbeast.
"And what are you planning. Some sort of another method to erase your own existence?"
"You should figure that out yourself, Shun. The future wouldn't be interesting for you if I gave you all the answers. Would it?"
"Zeref… You plan to interfere with the Fairy Tail in this weird method of erasing yourself. Right?"
"Who knows. I am the Black Wizard, after all." This time, he said that with a hint of playfulness. It was impossible to determine what he was after.
"I hope we don't stand on opposing ends. It would be troubling if I really have to kill you for good."
"Kill me? We have already tried with your flames. It doesn't work Shun. This method will never work. I cannot be destroyed."
Shun had a deadly and ruthless look on his face as he started speaking, "True… I can't give you permanent death. However, I did realize something. Your body will always regenerate the location where you die. I could just throw you deep into a volcano and be done with it. Or thrust you deep within the mantle where the temperature is so hot that your body will decompose even after your magic keeps protecting you. You will die every time you are revived. I wonder if there is some sort of limit on the curse. Like will it stop functioning if you die a 1000 times or more."
Even Zeref was dumbfounded at the method spoken by Shun, and he could only shake his head, "Please don't. The fact that you are saying it so seriously gives me little doubt as to whether you will attempt it or not. I wouldn't want my existence, where I revive and keep dying. The pain will be unimaginable."
With a smile, Shun said, "Then do make sure not to cross me. Even for me, that method is a little too brutal. For now, I also have other plans."
At this, Grandeeney asked him, "What plans?"
"First of all, to deal with this Godbeast and Acnologia. As for what happens next? Maybe go to the God Realm. I may deal with that curse Ankhseram gave Zeref. Maybe then he can finally live…"
"Your choice really. Though I am now curious how is it you plan on fighting a Godbeast with just a year left."
"Who knows… Maybe I can keep a huge load of fish and tame it. Hahaha..." Knowing about Wilson's unnatural love for fish, he said with a somewhat light-hearted tone.
Wilson was a little embarrassed as he said that aloud.
"Don't worry Shun. I won't destroy anything!"
"Hey-hey! Don't say that! What if you don't evolve with that weak-ass mentality!? That will be a disaster. I would have to keep a useless cat and take it with me everywhere. A white tiger will be so much cooler!"
Wilson angrily pouted and said, "If you keep talking like that, I will beat you into the ground if I become super strong."
"You can try!" Shun gave him a challenging grin as if he liked it that way. Without a fight, it would feel like he genuinely tamed the beast.
Zeref let out a chuckle at their interaction, "Shun, you want to beat a Godbeast into submission? That would be even more challenging than killing it."
"I wonder what would be Acnologia's reaction when he realizes he will be fighting against a Godbeast. But with their positions interchanged. One trying to destroy the world while the other fighting against it to prevent that destruction."
"You know an awful lot of secrets."
With an amused tone, Zeref answered him, "Being an immortal does have its privileges. What? You jealous?"
"Not really…No…"
"Ehm… I think this is getting a little out of hand, isn't it?" Grandeeny interrupted them with an obvious question.
Sure enough, Zeref was surrounded by deadly purplish energy.
This deadly purplish energy wouldn't have worried Grandeeney if she was alive and healed, but as of now, she was feeling the effects of the wind.
In the state she was in right now, she could die if this energy targeted her.
Suddenly, the colour of Zeref's eyes changed to that of Blood Red Colour. His expression became a little twisted as a smile appeared on his face. It was really very different from the way he was before, a calm lake, right now though, he looked to be a raging storm.
"Shun… We never did have a serious fight, have we? I wonder if you can really survive against my full power."
Shun let out a sigh as he lit up the Azure Blue flames in his hand, "You have finally switched, huh? You know, your power gets stronger when you switch, but your mind becomes slower. You are powerful in terms of the straight-up fight, but he is sharper and deadlier. In short, you are not my match. Especially, not here."
Zeref's feet burnt before he even realized it. It was converted into mere atoms. Zeref gritted his teeth and threw something like a Death ball at Shun.
The Death Ball was about to strike Shun and Grandeeney shouted out, "Watch out!" She was too late though, the ball of pure Death Magic hit Shun.
However, contrary to her beliefs, nothing happened. It got dispersed like it didn't exist. At that moment, a death dome around Zeref started to expand.
Shun didn't seem to care about it too much, and he said to Grandeeney, "Can you fly someplace far away? I will heal you before we go our separate ways."
