Chapter 4

Gid'on sat quietly eating his food while looking out of the window of his apartment. Today was a beautiful day; it was warm out and not too windy or rainy, it was perfect for him to read a book and enjoy the scenery. The weather reminded Gid'on of his brother's and aunt's wedding.

He closed his book, grabbed his bag and placed the empty bowl in the sink before walking out of his apartment. As Gid'on reached the street, he looked around for his car. When he found it, he opened the door and got inside. As soon as Gid'on closed the door and drove off, his phone began ringing.

He picked it up and sighed at the name displayed on the caller ID.

"Hello" Responded Gid'on, annoyed at being disturbed.

"Is he there?" Asked his brother in a calm tone.

"It's only a phone call, not a meeting. Why?" Said Gid'on, irritated, not believing that his brother would call at such a late hour.

"It will save us some time. Can you bring him to his office?" Asked his brother.

"Are you talking about Argo?" Said Gid'on, his mood changed completely.

"Yes, Argo, Argo" Said his brother impatiently.

"Ok... Ok, just give me a second" Replied Gid'on and he hung up the phone. After parking near his brother's office, he rushed to get to the main room.

As soon as Gid'on arrived, the guards noticed the strange visitor.

"Ah, Gid'on" Said the leader of the guard. "I hope this isn't a bad time."

"No it's fine, you can talk now." Said Gid'on, gesturing for his brother to continue talking.

"So Argo needs to meet with our newest member. We need to tell him what we learned about this new enemy we have acquired, since Argo has yet to reveal to any of his brothers how much he knows." Replied Argo.

Gid'on nodded and replied "yes sir, of course."

Once the other guards left the room, Argo turned to Gid'on and asked "do you remember anything of that creature you faced today?"

"Nothing, sir" Said Gid'on, disappointed that he missed out on something so big, but knowing that he needed to focus on his job first instead of his personal life.

"Hmm...we'll just have to figure out who it is later." Said Argo as he headed out of the building, leaving Gid'on alone in the room.

After his brother and the new addition left the room, Gid'on closed his eyes and concentrated on what happened in the room.

When he opened his eyes, he saw the same man sitting in front of him, watching him intently.

"So, you're my brother's mate huh," said the man with a smirk on his face as if to say he already knew the answer.

"Yeah, that's what I've been told." Replied Gid'on as he narrowed his eyes at the stranger.

"What's your name?" Asked the man.

"Gid'on. And yours?" Said Gid'on.

"Logan," Said Logan, "but everyone calls me Logan."

"How did you find me?" Asked Gid'on.

Logan chuckled as he said "Well that's simple. You came to my office."

"And? Is that why you called me here? To talk to me about my life choices? Do I need to pay to get my phone fixed? Do you have access to a cell phone? Do you even have money? I haven't seen you buy anything for yourself. I haven't paid you back either! I'm sure someone could fix my phone for you." Spat Gid'on angrily as he realised that Logan was probably blackmailing him or otherwise using him.

"Calm down Gid'," Said Logan calmly. "We don't have time for all this. The more we chat the more likely we are to fail, so I'll cut straight to the chase. I'm the one who sent the assassins to attack you and kill you, but I was never ordered to do so. I had no choice but to do it myself."

"So you want me to believe you. You wanted me dead, but now you're trying to use me as some sort of hostage? I doubt it" Replied Gid'on suspiciously.

Logan shrugged his shoulders. "If you don't trust me then I can take my business elsewhere. But it seems like you're stuck here with me, so I guess you're going to have to deal with me until something better comes along. In fact, you're lucky; the reason I'm here is because you were the only person who survived my attempt to kill you. Now, I have to admit you've taken my attention away from some of my important targets. However, I'm pretty sure they'll recover soon enough. I'm sure they wouldn't let me live if they thought I killed their most valuable asset. That means it is my responsibility to get you back. You don'
