Awakened: Evolving to Godhood

One day, spatial tunnels opened in the very fabric of reality, connecting Earth to a planet that came to be known as Xavier, a planet that has a lot of deserted settlements belonging to the civilization that lived on this planet before we started exploring it. Each settlement not only hides a secret of its own but also treasures, knowledge, and unthinkable technologies. In this new world, magicians rule the world and make the rules. They are those who can contain magic energy, an energy source present in Xavier, in their bodies. This energy is used to mainly empower supernatural cells. One can get them by consuming evolution materials. These supernatural cells suck magic energy to manifest one's superpower in the real world. Elliot, once the son of magicians in the channel opening stage, now lives the life of an orphaned and poor boy. Elliot is the weakest magician to ever exist in the world, a world where the strong are respected and the weak are disdained. With the death of his parents, the ones who used to look down on his has no reason to control their feeling. With a dim fate ahead of him, he grits his teeth and silently moves on to the day the light of glory shines on him, setting him apart from others in a single day, letting him taste what it means to be God! No Longer the weakest!

The morning skies of Xavier weren't the least bit bright, unlike Earth. This world had two moons and only half a Sun. It was no wonder that it didn't have summer, and winter lasted for more than half a year. The half Sun wasn't allowed to warm the world a lot. Even at this time of the day, in which students were walking to the academy to attend classes, the moon and the clouds were blocking half of the sun.

"You can attend many classes in the academy, each on a different topic and teaching a distinct subject. The most famous subjects are Combat, Alchemy, and Magic Chef. It is up to you to decide which ones you want to attend." Instructor Leonardo announced to the students.

"We understand, sir!"

Classes for today weren't important exactly as the teachers only introduced themselves and talked a bit about the subjects which the students can study in the Magician Academy before allowing the students to do as they wish.

"Is that it?" Elliot felt a bit disappointed as he didn't come across anything important during the classes today.

The reason for his disappointment wasn't because he didn't learn anything useful on the first day of the academy but because he didn't come across something that will activate a trial.

Once the artifact of the Northern Duke of Dark Starlight, now a part of his body, issues trials only when certain situations present themselves to him.

Trials are issued by the artifact when someone gives him a specific task to complete or if he is in a sticky situation. For example, he was the weakest magician in history, a pretty sticky situation in a world where the weak are bullied and disdained, so he had gotten a trial that helped him to become stronger. Similarly, the following trials had only started a moment after instructor Nina announced the task they needed to complete to pass the entrance examination.

So, Elliot determined that he needed someone to hand out a specific task for him to complete to start a trial, or he needed to come across a personal situation. It could be an instructor telling him to learn something or meeting someone like one of his old bullies who would try to abuse him.

"There must be a place in the academy where someone is handing out a specific task. I should look for it. The trials are the only way for me to obtain the remaining parts of the Challenger Key that will allow me to enter God's Tower." Elliot said in his mind as he stepped out of the classroom. The God's Tower was something he was extremely curious about, a place he wanted to enter as soon as possible. However, he needed to get the last two pieces of the Challenger Key first, and only then he will be able to create the key which will grant him entry to God's Tower.

For that, he needs to activate a trial somehow and complete it by giving it his all.

Elliot walked down the stairways, stepped into the hallways of the main building, and made his way through them in a hurry, trying to search for something or just about anything that will help him start a trial, but to his dismay he found nothing. So, he stepped out of the main building and stepped on a round pathway with many stone archways on the side and a wall on the other.

"Open your dog's eyes and see what happens to those who forget their status as slaves!"

"Do you dogs have no mouth? Don't you know how to give a reply?"

"Y-yes, sir!"

"Retards!"

Voices, moans, and the crisp sounds of faces getting slapped came from around the corner. While walking through a vacant path with only a few lights on, Elliot came across multiple teenagers with their back to the wall and hands raised straight, fingers pointing at the ceiling. In the middle of the teenagers, there was a teenage boy with a head full of dark brown hair curled up in a fetus position being kicked in the guts by his old bully, Alexander.

<Trial "No Longer the Weakest" has been issued>

<Defeat Alexander and show him that he can no longer suppress torture you or the other>

<Rewards: 50 units of the essence life, Upper section Challenger Key, The Right to use Authority Life on Alexander>

"You've got to be kidding me." Elliot laughed in a low voice, standing a few meters away from John and Alexander, thinking he was lucky to have received such a trial.

He wanted to get even with Alexander ever since he awakened, but he hadn't encountered him till now.

The moment he did, he received a trial to beat his ass in order to get rewards.

Now, he will not only feel better from beating him black and blue but also get rewarded!

Furthermore, he knew that Alexander was around the same evolutionary stage as him and believed that because he had not only the skills but also an ability now, he wouldn't lose against him in a fight!

What a lucky day!

What a great world!

"Please let me go," John begged Alexander with a pitiful look on his face.

"I told you to hand me your quantum card, so why didn't you just obediently handed it over to me? Do you think I'm a joke? Or had you forgotten you're merely a Hollow, a slave that can be roughed up by awakened magicians, like, me, after joining the Magician Academy?" Alexander angry voice boomed out. He was pissed off by what Silas did to him yesterday, and now he was venting his anger on the ones weaken than him, and out of them all, John was the trashiest weakling he had ever seen!

"Please just take my card and let me go," John said in a shaky voice as he took out his quantum card and raised it towards Alexander.

"Don't you dare tell me what to do!" Alexander said as he launched an attack amplified by his wind ability towards the messed-up boy.

John's eyes closed in terror as he feared for his life, knowing full well that he would be severely injured if Alexander's fist with wind wisps swirling around it connected with his body.

"Still playing such disgusting games, che," Elliot clicked his tongue, disgust vivid in his eyes. "When will you grow up? Alexander, ever thought giving your nasty attitude a rest, huh?"

Just as Alexander's fist was going to hit John's head, a voice sounded in their ears before a hand made out of the essence of life grabbed Alexander's fist, stopping it an inch away from hitting John.

In that moment of confusion, all the kids except for John stood up and dashed away. They turned around the corner and made it to safety. They didn't care about the one who saved them or the one they left behind! They were just happy to be safe by themselves! Truly disgusting but intelligent too! In this dog-eat-dog world, the weaker dog must always look out for themselves, after all!

"What? Who the hell has enough strength to stop my fist empowered by my ability so easily?" Alexander's eyes widened in surprise, and he turned to look at the source of the voice almost immediately, only to see Elliot, the weakest magician, looking down at him, disdain vivid in his eyes.
