A New Friend?
Mikasa sat down with her team, knowing that her team was going fourth. Right now, Team 2 is doing their exam. Team 1 managed to pass with the team facing off with a Great Jagras, a tier 8 fanged wyvern with greenish-yellow scales that can easily expand its stomach from within. The monster isn't as highly aggressive as the Rajang nor can it manipulate any element so it was an easy win for them. The most grave injury that any of the teammates received was a broken arm but that was because she fell awkwardly not from the attack of the monster.
"We're gonna be fourth," Connie said, a little nervous. "I don't know if I'm shaking with excitement or fear."
"Maybe a mix of both," Sasha said, tweaking her bow.
'This team looks promising,' Mikasa admitted in thought. 'Connie is quick and agile, Sasha's accuracy is near impeccable, even better than mine, Jean's ability is very good for defence.'
Mikasa looked to see that Team 2 found their monster. A navy blue reptilian monster with small leather spikes along its body and large bright blue retractable frills on the side of his head.
"What is that?" Connie asked Sasha.
"They're facing a Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, another tier 8 monster," She answered before the monster opened its frills and shined a bright flash on its opponents before kicking one of the participants and then swinging its head and hitting another.
"What the? What happened?"Jean said, confused.
"Oh, that, "Sasha ate a couple of jelly beans. "That's what a Tzitzi does. It uses those frills on its head to blind others so if it's a predator, It can run away or kill them if it's prey."
"Wait, where did you get those from?"Connie said, pointing at the bag of beans.
"At the snack table over there. Were you even listening to the instructor?"
"Connie, can you get me a granola bar and some jelly beans?" Mikasa asked.
"Sure if there's any left," Connie jumped from his seat and went to the snack table.
"Crap, that's true. First come, first serve, "Sasha quickly followed suit, leaving Mikasa with Jean. Mikasa tried to focus on the monitor but she felt his gaze on her, making her a bit uneasy.
"So, we're working together again…"Jean started. "But I guess you're not very happy, huh?"
"Although, I would rather work with many others before you…you're not a bad option. We're familiar with our abilities, so the chemistry should be a bit stronger. I would rather have you than Krista or Reiner."
"Oh…t-thanks, "He stuttered with his cheeks starting to turn pink. "I-I'm glad to be working with you t-too again."
"Here, Mikasa," Connie tossed Mikasa a granola bar and a bag of jelly beans. She caught it to see that it was chocolate chip flavour. She thanked the short teen before he and Sasha sat down, about to play rock, paper, scissors.
She continued to look at the screen with the Tiziti tried to open its frills to blind them again but one of the participants elongated his fingers and picked up a small boulder and threw it at its head, damaging its frills.
Another participant grew out scythe-shaped blades from her forearms and slashed its throat. The monster started flailing around before it landed on the ground and its legs started to twitch as its life in the red liquid form started to exit from its body and staining the grass and dirt around it.
"Team 2 has passed!" The AI voice echoed throughout the area.
"That was some teamwork," Sasha said. "Hitting the frills so that it can't blind them anymore."
"Team 3's test starts in 10 minutes!"The voice announced.
A group of people wearing white uniforms came out of another massive entrance with a large platform behind them. They quickly located the dead monster, lifted it and dropped it on the platform before heading back into the entrance as Petra congratulated team 2's success and helped them back to the waiting area.
Eld and Petra were talking about something but Mikasa couldn't hear them. Petra and the people on Team 2 headed back inside before she saw Eld sigh and place his real arm on the ground.
He closed his eyes and formed a giant yellow-orange coloured dome around the area.
"He's doing it again!"Connie said, running to the window.
Sasha jumped on Connie to get a better view. The environment was slowly reverting back to normal with the broken trees attaching to their roots and the blood dissipating completely.
Eld got back up with a heavy sigh and headed back inside.
"Team 3, time to get ready," Rico informed.
"We're going to be up next after them," Sasha reminded.
"We are and we have to get ready for when it happens," Jean said, still sitting down.
"I'm curious what monster they're going to face for this match. Maybe a rathian or Kulu-Ya-Ku or possibly a even real rajang, right Mikasa?" Sasha nudged Mikasa's shoulder.
"Do you think that they can bring a real rajang here?" she asked.
Sasha shook her head before stuffing her mouth with pretzels. "Doubt it. Although it is possible to capture them, Rajangs are wayyy too aggressive, so it's easier to just kill them."
Mikasa bit a piece of her granola bar as Sasha and Connie kept conversing with each other. She looked around, seeing Armin talking with Floch and their new member, who she learned that his name was Clyde through the blonde. She then glanced at Eren, conversing with Annie and his teammate Blake while Krista sat down looking at her team in disdain while eating a bag of jelly beans, sitting a few chairs away from them.
'Looks like they're seeming to mostly get along with their teammates,' Mikasa thought. 'I'm fine with Sasha and Connie although they get too loud sometimes.'
After finishing her snacks, Mikasa felt tired but the seats were really uncomfortable so sleeping would be nearly impossible. She looked to see a person resting on a greyish-black blob. She approached closely to see that it was a girl wearing a loose beige wool sweater and hat with light grey baggy sweatpants and white sneakers.
Mikasa pressed her finger to see that it was sinking into it, sending a shiver down her spine and pulling her finger back but it was still attached for a few seconds before eventually letting go of her finger and the string going back into the blob.
"Pretty weird, right?" the girl giggled.
"Is this your power?" Mikasa asked.
"Yeah, I could soften things to a semi-liquid state with touching."
"Is this comfortable?"
"Yeah, it is…" the girl stretched. "It's like you're on a big bean bag chair."
"Mind if I try it?"
"Sure, you seem like a good person. I also love the goth style, by the way, it really suits you."
"Oh, thanks…I like your style too, looks very relaxing," Mikasa complimented as she laid down on the big blob made of chairs.
"Thank you, I'm not really a fan of tight clothing. Although, it would benefit my ability more. Are you not going to watch what team 3 is up to?"
"I don't see the point. It's not going to aid us in any way, except to give us something to watch."
"Fair point.The name's Sydney by the way."
"Mikasa," the two girls two shook hands.
"Mikasa?Sounds Oriental."
"That's because I am, well half to be exact,"
"Cool.
Mikasa looked at the nearest screen, seeing Team 3 trying to locate the monster. Her eyelids were slowly feeling heavy before she dozed off into slumber.
