Pillow fight outside

Three months went by like a flash but the challenges I faced was never a joke. I can no longer count it with my fingers the time where I almost died during the training. John and Dan became harsher and hasher as days went by that I never had the chance to sleep peacefully nor savor my delicious food during meals. I rarely got to see the Shaw siblings and it's been a while since my last conversation with the fairies who kept my mother's plants healthy. But I believe all of those will soon be worth it.

The combat training that they kept on mentioning these past few months will finally happen tomorrow. And starting tomorrow, I'll be training with Avah and the others.

I catch the water bottle that was sent flying to me by John. One skill that I am very proud to have is my sensum. That means even without seeing, I can sense everything around me and be able to react to it quickly.

"Not bad" he kept on saying that every time I do something that is beyond his expectations.

I did not only learn how to fight and protect myself; I also learned some knowledge and strategies during my session with Leyla. She kept on mentioning that it's not all about fists and powers but also your wit. She said that I can't win a fight with force alone, I need strategies to make everything work.

We just finished our last training today and John told me to have a rest this afternoon for the combat training tomorrow.

I went home quickly and took a shower because I bathed in sweat earlier. I decided to cook spicy tuna carbonara and I toasted some bread.

If you are wondering why we got goods like pasta and bread, that is because we have stores here in the village that sells like such. There are merchants here that has access to the outside world and can easily buy things that people here might need. And if you are wondering why I got money to buy such products, that is because Adam is giving me money every month. I was hesitant to accept it at first but he told me that it came from my parent's company and his parents purposely sent it so I have something to spend. I never thought that they would actually care about me like one of their children.

"You are finally free!" I almost dropped the ladle in my hand when Avah barged in. Adam followed her holding a pot in his hands.

"We rarely eat together since your training started so we decided to visit you here when John told us that you went home already." Avah prepared the table and Adam prepared the food they brought.

I thought the Shaw siblings and John are related since they are all Terra but I found out that it doesn't work that way. When I asked John about that, he just burst up laughing. I felt embarrassed during that time because it took him a while to recover. What is so funny with that?

I prepared the carbonara and toasted breads and then started eating.

"I am so excited for tomorrow's event!" Avah cheerfully said.

"Why are you so worked up with this combat training thing?" I asked them. They kept on mentioning it but John never explained it to me why.

"The result of this training will decide your role here in the village. Those who can fight will be sent to countless missions and some of those missions are very dangerous. For those who can only defend themselves, they will work under Adam and be sent to minor missions. And for those who don't want to fight, they will work here in the village." So that is why it's a big deal for everyone.

"And also, this is not just a training. It is a real fight; you can knock your opponent out and wound them since we have healers but you can't kill them." Adam explained to me.

"The winner will also become the head of the team. So, everyone wants to win no matter what. I want to give my all too so you should also do the same, Frey."

Talking about that, I felt like I only want to work here in the village so I don't have to go to dangerous missions anymore.

We finished eating so I washed the dishes while they are watching television. I missed afternoons like this with them.

"Do you have potato chips?" Adam asked me while looking at the storage room.

"On the upper deck. I bought that last time but I got no time to munch it all." I said while drying my hands with the apron.

"I'll make us some snacks so you two can take a rest while watching the television." What happened to him? Did he eat some expired spam?

I looked at Avah and she just shrug. Maybe he's treating us nicely because he wants something?

I saw him preparing a large container and went out. He came back with lots of lemons and started squeezing them. Is he making a lemonade?

I ignored him and focused on watching the movie. I sat on the sofa while Avah is sitting on the ottoman chair. Adam came back and brought 3 glasses with lemonade and a bowl of chips. He signaled me to move to the edge of the sofa and put pillow in my lap. Do I look like a resting chair?

The night ended with us sleeping on the living room with lots of potato chip bags everywhere. I am very happy I got to meet them. They treated me as one of their family and showed me nothing but kindness and love.

----

Adam's voice woke us up. He kept on saying "Get up" numerous times and kept on hitting us with the pillow. I rolled over and closed my eyes but Adam hit my head with a pillow.

I stood up quickly and took the nearest pillow beside me and followed him to the depths of hell. We were like kids running inside the house when he decided to go out. I followed him outside when he tripped and I finally got him.

"TIME TO GET EVEN!" I shouted and hit him numerous times with the pillow in my hand.

The fairies who was taking care of the plants just laughed at us who is laying on the grass. I stood up and cleaned my clothes that has dried leaves stuck in it.

"Since you have a lot of energy to waste, why don't you get ready for the combat training later?" We looked at the direction where the voice came from and saw Maddy standing outside the fence.

"John said it will start at exactly 10 in the morning, tell Shaw as well. Be ready to get beaten." She said that while smirking and left.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked Adam.

"She is jealous of you because she likes me" he said and went in.

"You are so conceited. I can't believe it!" I shouted. Get beaten? Huh! I'll show you what I can do.

We started to clean the mess we left last night and took a shower. Adam made us some breakfast and volunteered to wash the dishes as well. He's getting nicer and nicer. But I guess it won't be for too long because he said he'll do us a favor since we have to get ready for the combat training.

When we were done with our chores, we went to the training field already and saw almost all of the villagers. I was shocked when I saw a colosseum built at the center of the training field. The chairs are almost filled since the villagers went to watch the match.

"The last time I checked, we have no colosseum built here." I said, still in awe.

"The last time I checked, we have John who is a Terra and he has subordinates too." Adam sarcastically replied. Avah chuckled but I just rolled my eyes.

"Goodluck ladies, don't go berserk!" he said and went to the colosseum.

I followed Avah and went to the locker room to change our clothes. After changing, we went to John who is staying at one of the rooms inside the colosseum because we don't know how this combat training will go yet. We waited few minutes to gather all of the 117 participants.

"Are you ready to get beaten, George?" I looked at my side and saw Maddy. When will she stop annoying me?

Avah stepped in but I stopped her. "You can tell me that after I knock you out" I said and turned away.

I looked back and said, "I never knew the fat Adam has six pack abs" She's getting into my nerves. I kept on avoiding her these past few months since I don't want to pick a fight but I don't think I have that much patience when she just keeps on pestering me.

I saw her face turned into red because of anger. I just laughed with Avah to ease the nervousness I have right now.

"Fatty Adam?" Avah laughed again "He'll be mad when he hears that!" she said and laugh again.

"That's just a joke and I never saw him topless. Please don't tell him." I begged Avah but she just laugh.

"Let's begin!" Everyone in the room went silent.
