"Have a seat, young man," the lady said. "I am Astrid, and I am a servant of angels and other supernatural beings."

He sat on a black leather sofa. It was like a fancy crib of an old rich woman.

"Are you an ordinary human?" he asked. "I mean how can there be a human servant of angels?"

"I am a mortal being with angel's blood running through my veins. I am a descendant of a nephilim," Astrid said. She sat on the couch across Lauren.

"How come? An angel can have a human child?"

"It was long ago when some angels fell in love with mortal women and they had children. Those children were called nephilim," Astrid started. "It was forbidden, so these angels were banned from entering the heaven, and their children were targeted by both the demons and the heavenly beings because of the divine powers they inherited. Some nephilims were as strong as the angels. They can kill both demons and angels, and too powerful for humans."

"How did you become a servant of angels if heavens despise Nephilims?" he asked again. Everything was new to him, not because he can not remember his past but because what he was hearing seemed impossible, yet he knows it was real. He is an angel himself.

"I am already a descendant, and things have changed over time. The heavens accepted nephilim's descendants, and we are helpful to them." Astrid cleared her throat. "Though the heaven still forbids having a new born nephilims."

He slowly nodded. "You mentioned nephilims inherit divine powers from their angel parent... what power did you inherit from your ancestors?"

"Not much. I can see spirits and angels, and talk to them, even if they are supposedly invisible. I learned some magic and spells from my ancestors, and we have a book of magic that was passed down from generation to generation." Astrid stood up. "You may want to rest for now. I will show you your room. You will have a lot of things to do starting tomorrow."

"What things?" he was confused. What are the other things this lady knew about me?

"You will enter a university and blend in with humans. I was told you died at the age of eighteen. You should be in college."

"Right..." He stood up and followed Astrid. There was no one for him to hang on now but this old lady. She seemed harmless that is why he felt comfortable around her.

"Am I the only one angel here?"

"There are two other angels on a mission who stay here. They are currently out. They would probably back in the morning. You will meet them later on. This is your room." She pointed on the mahogany door, then she turned the knob. She pushed it lightly to let him in. "Have good night, Lauren."

"Thank you, Astrid." The old lady walked away calmly. He entered the door and shut it, only to realize that he never gave his name to her at all, but she knew his name. "Oh, maybe the messenger showed my photo to her."

He just shrugged his shoulder and walked straight to the bed. It was huge, soft and comfy. The room is spacious, too. "Not bad for an angel with no memory." He chuckled.

"Tomorrow's another day, and I need to enter a school to blend it." He may be able to start finding his forgotten past life.

He laid down on the bed and started recalling what happened to him. He woke up in heaven. he fell from the sky to be sent back to earth, he saw how someone so desperate killed herself, he saw a demon who took that poor soul, and he saw how a man drowned himself out of self-pity and regrets. He also saw the angel who fought the demon he saw earlier.

"Everything happened overnight. What will happen to me tomorrow?"

He closed his eyes to try to get a sleep. "Do angels sleep?" A weird thought hit his mind. He shook his head before falling into nothingness.

---

The sun shone from the window and hit Lauren's face. He opened his eyes and wiped them using his hands.

"I think I over slept and I am still sleepy." He yawned and stretched his arms wide to wake himself up. "Angels really do sleep though. "He laughed about what he discovered.

He got up and walked towards the window to see the busy street. "It's time to start blending in with humans."

He thought it won't be difficult for him because he just recently became an angel. His body probably could still recall how to become a human being.

He walked out of the room and went to the living room to find anyone in that huge unit.

"Good morning, Lauren," Astrid greeted him. She was wiping the antique vase on top of the center table. "Did you have a good night sleep?"

"Yes, Astrid. Thank you." His gaze went to the teenager sitting on the couch and busy with her phone. "Hold on, I remember what that thing is? What are the things I can still recall?"

"She's my daughter, Aurora," Astrid said.

"Hello, Aurora," he greeted the teenager.

She waved her hand without looking at Laurel. She continued playing with her phone.

"Is she also the same as you?" Lauren asked.

"She can see the future of anyone she holds," Astrid proudly.

"I'm not quite happy about it. What I see are tragic events, not the happy ones," Aurora said while still playing.

"She goes out with hand gloves to avoid accidental touch and seeing other people's death," Astrid explained.

"Yeah, I see people's accidents and deaths which make me puke." The teenager sighed. "I hate it."

"Your power could save lives," Lauren said. "Imagine seeing someone dying a week after, and you will do something to prevent it. That's simply amazing."

Aurora stopped using her phone and did not respond for a few moment. He planned to continue with his words, at least he could change her mindset about her power.

"You were given a chance to change someone's ill-fated destiny. What's sad from having that power is you saw something and you did nothing to prevent it."

He noticed she sobbed a little, then she cried. "I wanted to save them but I don't know how." She got up from the couch and ran towards her room.

Lauren got worried and glanced at Astrid. She nodded slowly. "You found your innate power. Your words can reach through someone's heart and soul."

"You think so?" Lauren asked.

"I told her exactly the same as what you said for so many times, but she just always shrugged me off."

He was about to ask what to do next when his stomach made a loud growling sound. "Angels do get hungry?"

"You're using a temporary human body. It needs nutrition like any other mortals. Let's eat now." Astrid walked towards the dining area and Lauren followed.
