Chapter 7

Ava's P.O.V

"Oh um…come on in…um…if you want," she smiled nervously and turned away from the demon, hoping that he hadn't noticed how nervous she actually was. He nodded and entered the living area.

"Where is everyone? I've never seen this many children," he commented after taking a seat on the sofa. "Not even your dad's kids come over like that all the time. It's kinda funny actually. How does your mum cope with it?" he asked, laughing slightly.

"She loves them all dearly, and they know that," Ava laughed. "My father's children usually just stay home, or they go to the movies with friends. I think it's mainly because they don't understand that I can handle these sorts of situations by myself most of the time, and my mum wants them to have more fun," she explained. Crowley let out a small laugh.

"Yeah, sounds nice."

"Anyway, please enjoy yourself; I won't stay up with you or anything," Ava reassured. "I'll see you later."

"Yeah, alright. See ya later." He replied shortly. Ava nodded and went back upstairs to her room.

He really was strange. Even though he had apologized, despite the way he had said sorry to begin with, she had still gotten a weird feeling whenever they met. It felt as if she were looking into an unknown future, something that she didn't want to confront but couldn't ignore, either. He didn't seem to mind, nor did he show any signs of fear, so maybe he truly just accepted his fate, even if she wasn't sure if it was actually happening. Maybe they both simply had different reactions towards the same situations. Or maybe…she couldn't deny that she had developed feelings towards him as well. Feelings she definitely didn't want to admit. And even thinking that seemed like she was denying them, trying to convince herself that none of those feelings were real. It's ridiculous, she told herself, sighing heavily while shaking her head. There was no way she was capable of liking the demon, no matter how badly she had missed him.

Chapter 9

Ava's P.O.V

It wasn't as if she was avoiding Crowley intentionally, it was just…she hadn't seen him in nearly 3 weeks now. She figured that he was busy with work or something, so she figured that it was fine if she didn't bother him or try to catch up with him…right? Right…

But the truth was, she wanted to see him. In all the time she had known the demon she had never been so alone. Her life was just so peaceful and easy…even if they fought a lot…but at least when they were together everything was easier and better than it ever was apart from when she lived in heaven. That's why the loneliness was making it so hard for her. So she decided that this would be her third attempt at apologizing to him. The first two times she had been able to see him, but since the second one happened she had decided to wait it out and make up a good excuse. Now that time had come, however, and she knew that it was now or never.

Ava slowly approached where he was sitting, and after a moment of hesitation she spoke.

"Um…Crowley?" she softly called out as she got closer.

"What is it Ava? I haven't got all day," Crowley growled in reply.

"Ummm…can I sit down? I have a lot to tell you. And I think it will sound kind of lame when I say it in person," she smiled weakly. The demon sighed deeply.

"Fine, fine, just stop stalling! Get on with it." Ava gave him a sad smile and sat down next to him on the sofa. The silence stretched for a couple of minutes until Crowley decided to break it.

"So what did you need to tell me?"

"Nothing really…just wanted to see you and make sure that you're okay."

"Well, I am pretty much okay…considering, y'know…what I just went through…I'm perfectly safe to leave the house," the demon scoffed. "Although I guess you weren't aware of that when you were asking around," he added.

Ava blushed and averted her eyes. "I know…sorry…but…I mean…well…okay," she mumbled, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. She could sense that Crowley was looking at her, but she didn't dare look at him. She knew she was blushing bright red, and for some reason that made her incredibly self-conscious.
